I got this from a bangalore based Distributor... let me know if I can put up the whole email and contact details?

Nikon Camera DSLR-D-3000

M.R.P - 25,450.00

Selling Price - 23,490.00

---------------------------

Why buy a 1000D for 22,500Rs when you can get a D3000 (with IS/VR) for 1K more??
I checked in Reliance Digital here and its 25.5k. Compare India though gives the rate at 24k.

But as stated in my previous post, there are some dealers on ebay who are giving the EOS 1000D with 18-55mm IS lens.

Because Canon 50mm/1.8 costs 5k and Nikon 35mm/1.8 costs 15k.

We need to keep in mind that we are buying into a lens system, not just the body.

With Canon 1000D you can mount any Canon lens, and it will autofocus. So most of the Canon EF lenses are supported. Nikon D3000 will autofocus only AF-S lenses. So your options become very limited.

Goss...thats an unbelievable price. I got my D60 + 18-55 VR @ 24K a year back. How did u manage an additional 55-200 VR with 21K. To my knowledge this lens itself costs 12K.

Nothing specific about the D5000, because I had read many reviews when it was launched. It will be a 2nd DSLR body for Das, so that will be a direct user-review mostly compared to the first body, probably in comparison with few others too, if he has used any.

I dont think anyone has quoted or bought D3000 here, but you can mention the shop here for easier comparison. Same shop gives different quotes to different buyers based on their reference or connection to the owner.

I bought a macro lens for 19k, same lens was sold from this shop to another person for 20k (MRP is 24k) just few hours before me, the seller and buyer happened to know me, so I came to know the difference. Later I realised another shop would have given it to me for 18.5k. So there is no justification for the prices.

Can you post your sample Pics using the Russian lenses you have like Helios-44 58mm F2 or Jupiter 85 mm F2 ?

I dont own a DSLR and too lazy to finish the work with the film SLR!!! (rolls are lying waiting for me!!) I did shoot on a DSLR but it was on a friend's DSLR. Never mind here are pics from my friend's DSLR shot by him:

EOS 400D + Helios 44 58mm F2, at F5.6:

400D + Helios 44 58mm F2; may be it was at f8:

more pics of his with his helios 44:

couple of pics using jupiter 9, again pics of his:

The DSLR Thread-4517250336_f8cab366f7_b.jpg

But I happened to shoot with the Helios-44 reverse hand held against my canon A610 and got very dreamy pics (it was cloudy so I had to use wide aperture there making the DOF very narrow and it was hand-held so ended up with bad focus!!):

PS: My Jupiter 9 lens isnt in a good shape. I have to send it for repairs to some one in Kolkatta it seems. But before that I will try once with in my friend's DSLR.

I called up to check prices of things I know, they dont deal with grey products. Things are sold only with bill & warranty, so naturally it will be close to the MRP what you will find on the nikon india site.

If you are sticking to Nikon, try Jayesh or RK for a better deal as Nikon doesnt offer any free things to a officially billed customer. Saving will be enough to get a 4GB card, a decent bag and a filter or cleaner.

Sigma 10-20mm F3.5 EX DC HSM -> 25+ without B&W and 26+ With B&W

Thank you Proxima, I did try for Tokina but it's available only in Ebay. I am afraid what if i run out of issues on the lenses as there are no service centers for tokina here...

Does Jayesh Stock Tokina Lenses ?

i got them from one of my good friends who was upgrading to D90. Also since D60 is discontinued, the resale price is less i believe

CRV2010, You can also cross check with RK on 22251929, sometimes he quotes 1k less for certain lenses. I always do that before putting money on the table.

You stay in north ? I am near BEL circle

Got it for 28k from N.Delhi via our GD

Also got a 4GB card + UV filter => 1000Rs. I just bought a bag/pouch; Ginni for 1100Rs.

1st impression, maybe I am too small, and hence the camera felt big and heavier than I thought. I has used my cousin's D5000 + hefty 18-250 lens or so and hence thought it was heavy coz of the funny lens. I was also clicking away a 40D + kt lens two weeks back and hence expected D5000 to be smaller and lighter. Happy that it's a bit handful.

Menu's ease to navigate/fine tune/ modify. Took sometime to find burst mode! but now it pretty easy, its just 2 clicks away.

Its doesn't focus as fast as the 40D ( yah I know, I am not to compare).

Now too scared to take it out coz of rains ( read moisture) and I hope I learn quick. Had a short gyan last day with clevermax.
