Re: The DSLR Thread

This news might not be too relevant here, but here it is. Pentax announced two new DSLRs K-50 and K-500.

Both these come equipped with 100% penta prism viewfinders, double control dials. K-50 is weather sealed whereas K-500 is not.

I can look at coordinating these sessions if someone volunteers. Presenting gurus need to have camera equipment (which they obviously have), good webcam, highspeed internet & time for these sessions.

How is this thought?
I agree to this, why not like minded guys team up and meet some where, just like the Team Bhp / separate club meets. And then we can take this further by way of sharing. I am a novice too and will learn a lot from the meets. Looking forward for the same.

Relevant, yes. Viable, no
As long as Pentax/Ricoh doesn't have official presence here at least authorised service centers (for service, parts, ...) we can't see more people using Pentax.
Good to see another Pentax enthusiast here though

Re: The DSLR Thread

Can anyone suggest a good shop to pick up Nikkor lens (New) - Am looking for a telephoto one and am pretty worried about lens being used and then sold to the customers as I have heard from fellow photographers & friends. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

You are right. It's sad that Pentax Ricoh doesn't have official presence in India. India is a huge upcoming market for DSLR/ILC cameras and they are loosing out big time. Their offerings are perfect for Indian audience, most bang for the buck.

Just look at K-500, you get features in an entry-level camera which are from a segment above in Canikon land.

Re: The DSLR Thread

Can you guys throw in some concrete ideas for Macro shots? I already tried water reflection, water splash, bubble reflection. I might do them over and again to capture different subjects. Is there anything that I could try? Please let me know!

Rent a DSLR?

Hello people,

I am planning a weekend trip soon and would like to try a DSLR. I haven't used them before so I'm not very proficient with the camera models and lenses.

Also, I'll be returning to the US in 3 weeks and I plan to buy a DSLR there.

Can anyone recommend any place in Delhi/Gurgaon where I can rent a DSLR for a few days? That way, I can get comfortable with them before I eventually buy one.

I saw some links online but they are way too outdated.

I am not sure about physical places but have heard this place - ToeHold Rental. A DSLR freak friend of mine had suggested this. They are based out of bangalore and good bunch of people. Visit the team page on their website, establish contact with one of them and seek their direct advice for similar locations in Delhi region. I think they would even be happy to ship one to you as rental but may be costly affair.

Re: The DSLR Thread

Sigma has just announced the price of the 18-35mm F1.8 lens and its very low at $799.

Was really expecting it to be priced more then $1500.This lens also compatible with the Sigma USB dock priced at $59 .The sigma USB dock is a must have IMO where one can do micro adjustment to the lens and also set the AF speed and range and also set the IS level depending on the lenses.

it's like, "I have a knife. What can I cook today?"

I am fascinated by bugs. The problem is they move out of focus very quickly.

Rusts on iron doors etc can be a fascinating subject. I have in fact seen an exhibition devoted almost entirely to this subject.
