Hi,

I just bought Sony HDR-CX150E/B for Rs.30000 from Sony World,Anna Nagar.
for spec :
HDR-CX150E : Flash / Memory Stick : Handycam Video Camera : Sony India
comes with 16GB in built & Free 16GB Mem. Card and a carrying case.
The camcoder is very light and easy to use.
the only contsraint is the videa files are with .m2ts extension and only run in Blue ray disc players.
for our dvd player we need to convert it to mpeg or avi files.
Sony has given a tool to convert and do some editing to be done.
Optical and Digital Zoom is good and steady Shot makes picturisation vivid.
3.2 MP camera is pretty good but it's without flash.
Mic is working with the zoom.so voice is very clear.
Overall it worth for money.
I recommend the same for people here

Congrats on your new Full High Definition Camcorder.

Camcorder is one area in which I haven't dabbled so far. When this thread was revived by bblost, my interest was kindled and I immediately had a cursory look into the Sony India website. I closed it down as fast as I opened it after finding the prices of Full HD Camcorders. Hmmm........ they still cost a bomb. May be it is better to wait for one or two more years for the prices to drop.

I also bought Sony HDR-CX150E on 6th March for Rs.29,700/-. Free 16GB Memory Card and free carry case.

I bought it from Croma, Delhi. I also got an HDMI cable (mini HDMI to HDMI) free as sales person had wrongly informed me that it is inside the box.

Very good camcorder. I just dump the recorded file to my media player and its amazingly sharp and clear on my 46" Full HD LCD.

what options do we have in Canon? I am a Canon fan. The Legria series seem to be priced very high. Any idea how they compare to the Sony HDR-CX150E?

Congrats on the HD camcorder, I advise you to invest in buying WDTV HD Plyaer or any HD video player costs around 5K. You can take the SD card put it in a card reader connect it in WDTV and watch the HD content without downgrading your video quality, because you are not doing justice by capturing it in HD and viewing it in low quality by converting it into DVD quality.

This is about 20k.

I just bought a 16 GB HDD device for 16.7k.
It also supports a SD card.
Without SD card the effective amount of memory is for 13+ hours of footage.

Buy the larger HDD device if you plan to use it during Holidays and so on.

BUT.
Are you planning on viewing this on a regular TV or a LCD HD TV.
Because in that case you must extend your budget to get a HD Camcorder.
I think its available at 23k.

Whats the make & model number BB?

My dad has a non HD LCD TV. I think 13+ hours should be good enough & the price looks great

Features:
16GB Internal Memory / Carl Zeiss 60x Optical Zoom Lens / DVDirect Express / Direct Copy / Face Detection / Compatible with Memory Stick® and SD/SDHC

Its nice and sleek. Fits my wife's hand better than mine.
I cannot use it if the power cord is attached. Palm too big for the space.

The zoom is seamless and there is no noise at all from the zoom and storage.
My old camcorder was a cassette based Sony and I remember it used to make some noise.

The only catch is low battery life.
But to its credit the charge time is also quite less.
Full charge in under 45 minutes.
You get about 120 mins of recording time.

20 yrs down the line while watching the videos you might kick yourself for not getting a HD video when you could have. think futuristic when creating memories for future.

Well This is his 2nd camcorder, the technology is changing so fast that he doesnt want to spend too much. He would most probably need to buy another one 5 years down the line if not earlier.

Sony has got CX 150 E Flash memory based cam which is HD, 25x optical Zoom, 3.5 MP Camera with face & smile detecion this is the best flash memory based cam rightly available in sony India comes with 16Gb internal + 16Gb memory card free along with bag, Cost Rs.30,000

I got the same one in Malysia last week where they give a additonal batttery free instead of the 16GB memory card, costing Rs.5,000 less than India and the bag was far better than the indian one.

its so small and cute i love its performance upto 32 Gb memory card can be added to it the reults where so good no additonal need to carry a digital camera as the digital pictures are in par to 10MP stills taken in my Nikon camera ,

as there is no moving parts in the cam its so light only cons in the cam is it does not come with Flash light but its the futuristic cam, HD based recording with Flash based memory.
