Or else change your DNS settings in your router to OpenDNS. You can get more info from Opendns.com

Have you used HijackThis? If not, try it and post its log - once before the problems creeps, and once after it creeps in. Would give a better idea what is running in the computer.

Thanks Tanveer. Trying out both options to see what works for me.

Even I assumed the same. Thats why flushing DNS and re-registering it works almost always. However, thats a very typical 'jugaad' solution. And I am wondering why I have to resort to doing so now suddenly after using the same ADSL router/modem for over 1 year! Same settings, same net connection, same configurations!

Is there a permanent solution to DNS problems?

You may also want to try pointing DNS server to ISP's DNS server than pointing to default 192.168.1.1.

(If you are using windows, go to network properties -> TCP/IP properties -> Primary DNS Server. Set this to your service provider's DNS.

See if that helps you. I have a suspicion that it may just work for you.

Hey Nishant,

I dont know if this works, but is Service Pack 3 causing the problem. Can you try uninstalling SP 3 and install SP 2 and then try if you are able to connect to the net.

Chrome fades as users return to IE, Firefox

Actually I was back to IE7 after a day of using chrome.

I sincerely felt that Chrome was a very "bare" browser.

And the different tabs running as different threads/processes - well IE8 also does the same.

Yes its bare, but very fast specially with slow internet connection ( I have claimed 150 kbps " broadband " connection ).

Does IE8 function like a regular ( full release ) browser, like having support for add ons, etc. ? Is it faster than IE7 ?

I recently faced a few issues with chrome. The PC would reboot automatically as soon as I start Chrome. Cleaned RAM, Graphic card connections, etc. but would not work. Even reinstalled the OS. But the problem remains.
Has any one faced this ?

Just curious, any specific probably like speed or reliability issues.

Am still on chrome and dont think will move out soon, its bloody fast and so evident in my mediocre home internet connection. I use IE/FF for secure online transactions ;)

I'm still on chrome because its so obviously faster than the others. starts up like magic when you click on the icon on your desktop.

May I ask why? AFAIK, Chrome does support SSL, dosent it?? If you ask me, using IE could be the most risky proposition for that purpose!

Check uninstalling Spybot and Spywareblaster if you have them.
I think they block differently for different browsers.

Reliability. I rather use a time-tested, field-tested release version browser than a very first beta version browser. I also got irritated when I couldn't easily go back after submiting a form. Also Chrome sucked at rendering Outlook web.

You trust Chrome Beta version 0.2 over IE7? Sigh, I believe there is more FUD created against Microsoft than created by Microsoft.

For a reason! IE always has the maximum hacks/exploits in existence... Chrome being new, will hardly have any!!

I still stick to my Firefox and it's extensions even after Chrome. Period!

I'm surprised to see some still using IE! No offense meant, please. But seriously, I'm wondering how come?
