Heyyy, I'm a regular engadget guy too

The Meizu does look great! But god knows how long they will be able to continue with it before Apple sues them. Pretty obvious ripoff isn't it?

I think the P1 will probably take another 5-6 months to get here. I'm not a Samsung fan. I hate their SW interface. Else, their phones always look good and they are built really good.

If u want then take a look at Dopod M700.My friend's been using a 818Pro for sometime now...seems a good PDA to keep around (only minus I feel is that FM is lacking in this one)

  • GPRS/EGPRS (Class B, MSC 32)
  • GSM CSD (circuit-switched data) up to 14.4 kbps
  • HSCSD (high-speed circuit-switched data) up to 43.2 kbps
  • Dual transfer mode MSC11, SAIC (single antenna interference cancellation) release v2

  • Email data roaming
  • Integrated infrared module (up to 115 kbps)
  • USB 2.0 full speed supported through Pop-Port™ interface
  • Bluetooth 1.2 specification
As I plan to use this PDA ,atleast for 2 years ,before an upgrade , think makes sense to buy something which is future proof , atleast for technolgy which is around the corner.

What according to you is the best PDA / smartphone below 25K in India ? ( with b & W )
I have been on a hunt for a pda under 25k as well. All the o2s, imates and dopod models miss one thing or the other. There is no clarity on when 3G will arrive if at all (some articles i was reading where they want to look at 4g directly). So with the current connectivity only with EDGE, the Touch promises to be a winner. Only issue is with the airtel locked launch.

@W12 : I am curious as to what are the functions you want to use your phone for? I am going in for a pda more for the status/style/possessing-a-cool looking-gadget factor really coz I realised accessing the net thru the darned speeds that are available to us at the moment is not really gonna make me too happy. It would help if you could share your ideas on the probable functions in the pda that ur gonna use.

I run my own business and travel quite a bit. So access to my email on the go is a priority for me alongwith editing / creating word / xl document and sending the same as attachments. hence my focus on connectivity.

It is more of a business tool for me ..ofcourse i wont mind if it also looks good in the bargain..

3G is supposed to be 4 times faster than edge and would have been a nice addition to touchs specs IMO. but at 19,900 with airtel it is a very good bargain.

IMO E61i from nokia is also a good looker,,

If you haven't seen it yet, there's a very positive review on the E61i at GSMArena. Makes you want to get one NOW! Nokia E61i review: Lens-wear for the messenger - GSMArena.com

Isn't it too wide? won't fit in the pocket without attracting a few unwanted glances

And some comments as in "Is it that you are happy to see me, or is that an E61i in your pants pocket"?

It does look wide, but it doesn't feel as wide when you handle it. I was wondering about its width when the E61 was released, but when I handled it, it felt quite ok. My hands aren't that big, but I had no problem at all. Probably because it is really slim. The E61i is actually a hair thinner (not less wider) than the E61. And its extra width is actually a boon when you consider that the QWERTY keyboard is best used with both hands/thumbs.

Yeah but the world went 3G at least 6 years after Japan did, so its a bit hard to believe that India will leapfrog to what is supposedly 4G (this is not official GSMA terminology - which is why I asked the question).

Its rather ambitious to think that we will jump from 2/2.5 G to these speeds, but all the best to them anyway.

Looking at the video of HTC touch being operated, I wont be surprised if it is renamed HTC "sore thumb", a year down the line !! Fancy looks and all.. but I dont like to waste my thumb to operate a phone.
