One of the interesting purchase I made during the Covid pandemic was a pair of 4feet length Silambam Cane Sticks. I purchased them (on Amazon) for trekking in hills, and found them to be very handy while climbing up and down the Shivgange hill.

They fit snugly in one corner of boot of any SUV. It can be used for defence in case situation arises

So cool! I too purchased similar ones from Chotila in Gujarat. They are made out of Netar wood(Don't know the English name). Are these the same? The ones I purchased are also used by the police. Got them for 150 each.

I picked up the Mi Vaccum Cleaner Robot at close to Rs 26 K (with 1 year extended warranty), and I think it has been a sensible decision do far. https://www.mi.com/in/mi-robot-vacuum-mop-p/

Yes, these sticks are similar to the ones used police. The longer 6ft cane sticks are used for a martial art called 'Silambam'.

Re: Recently purchased Products or Gadgets that helped you improve your life

I can remember the last time I bought a gadget. I have pretty much everything I need and I just don't buy anything I don't need. However, there are a few of things I bought during the lockdown that helped.

1. Squeeze mop: This saved a lot of effort when the the house help was not allowed / able to come.

2. Ring spanner set: My old set was borrowed by someone and never returned. I do a lot of repair work myself and these are pretty useful.

3. Rubber mallet: Very helpful when you need to hammer something in without damaging the surrounding surface.

Re: Recently purchased Products or Gadgets that helped you improve your life

Got a height adjustable desk from Kuffalo (https://www.kuffalo.com/) with all the customizations I wanted (wheels, keyboard+mouse tray, power strip housing). It's been a welcome change to the monotony of staring at the same wall in the same corner through these dour WFH days. I can now move to any corner of the house, stand and work for a while, etc.

Pretty late to the party but we recently bought an air fryer. Now we wonder why we did not buy it earlier, lol.

Thanks to awesome recommendation by our awesome in house tech guy, Mod Vid6639, for the positives about Mesh 6 routers. Got TP Link Deco X20 AX 1800 and now, almost all the house is covered, save for some parts of terrace & hall on 3rd floor (LAN cable is not there).

It's providing faster speeds than OE router with much wider and steady coverage.

Re: Recently purchased Products or Gadgets that helped you improve your life

Interesting thread! I'm a single man living with a dog in a 2 bedroom house in Bangalore. The below things really help me keep the house in shape:

1. The dishwasher - it's an 8 place dishwasher more than enough for my needs.

2. Philips Vacuum Cleaner - My dog sheds a lot. Need I say more?

3. A comfy couch.

4. A TV and a 2.1 hi-fi system

5. A car! When you have a dog in India you pretty much have no way to travel as dogs aren't allowed in any public transport. So I purchased a car just to take Arya with me wherever I go.

6. Harpic bathroom cleaner - my dog does her business in the attached bathroom in my room. This product really removes all odors and stains. I use it regularly.

Amazon Kindle 10th gen. No wonder it is a very good product. Other than reading books my daughter uses it for reading her school assignment pdf files through Kindle. So the device has dual purpose. Better than having a smart phone for school homework.

I was looking for a massager for my mom and with the many options available in Amazon, I thought I will shortlist one by searching what BHPians recommend. This review of yours sealed the deal . Ordered one just now, will update in a week how it performs.

Re: Recently purchased Products or Gadgets that helped you improve your life

My prized possession which is being used on a daily basis for almost 2 decades. I sometimes wonder on how the battery is getting charged perfectly even today. I use it to mostly connect my phone to hear FM radio music at home when I am sitting in my garden. Even though I have a couple of I pods at home , I hardly use it to dock this speaker.

I casually looked into Amazon USA and surprised that it is being sold now at 1/4 th price it was sold 2 decades back. May be it is sold at throw away prize as the I pod technology is outdated now.

The quality of sound from this small speaker rivals professional speakers.

This was presented in another thread as part of my audio collections #3771:

Bumping up an old post. Can you please provide feedback on your ownership experience?
I am on the lookout for a manual adjustable desk, visited their workshop. THe table felt sturdy. I was not too sure of the durability of the raiser mechanism. Hence the request for feedback.

Also, could you post a picture of the customization and what you ended paying for the same?

I've been using it for over 2 years without issues. the riser mechanism also works fine -- would be smoother if properly oiled (which I am not). I needed the table to be mobile, so got wheels with locking capability. The keyboard tray is basic, but sturdy. The chord housing is in the back. Paid Rs.500 each for the two customizations. Wheels came standard. K3B1 - Double Stand Manual Height Desk is what the invoice says.
