aah thats a bad shot. Care to specify which cam was used? I fail to understand how you can compare a picture taken by you with your P&S and the 350D and make a judgement on the ultra zoom cams with many bells and whistles??

I am planning to buy a simple point & shoot digicam. The usage will be primarily outdoor, clicking pics of fast moving objects. So Low shutter lag is amongst the priorities. The indoor photographs should be decent too, but more of its use will be outdoors.

Please suggest some camera in the range of Rs 10-14K

Yikes same question again :confused: . Why 18-135mm when you already have a 18-55mm , makes sense if you picked the 55-200mm..

Else if you have the money pick up the 18-200mm VR lens from Nikkor and dump/sell the kit lens to some-one :D .

18-135mm = 11k odd grey.
55-200mm = 12k odd grey.
18-200mm = 34-36k depending on dealers.

I have already told my friend to check the rate and availablity of 50-200mm.

Can i take indoor, general photos with zoom lens? (55-200mm) or for that i will need 18-55mm.

I agree - always shoot RAW. You never know which will be a keeper that you may want to PP and make poster size etc.

Yes 18mm is the MINIMUM that you should have on an APS-C sensor camera

I recently upgraded my Canon Powershot A80 to S5. It looks more like a professional camera with 12x optical zoom, and pictures are awesome. It cost me $320 in US. Think its about 19k here right now. Maybe cheaper in grey market.

I have the 18-135 mm lens and the IQ is fantastic. Focus speed is very fast(even in low light), but as rjstyles has said, going for it, given that you have the 18-55, doesnt make sense. I bought this lens with the plan for getting the 70-300 VR later.
For you I'd suggest buy the 55-200mm VR (preferably) or the 70-300mm VR if you have the budget.

The mm is in relation to a lens and not the camera body. The Nikon D40/X has a sensor that is smaller than traditional 35mm film, so in other words, the 35mm film is 1.5 times bigger than the sensor in the DSLR, so 18-55mm range in DSLR is equal to 27-82.5mm on film SLR.
