^^Lovely colors. Is that with an 18-200? No idea about the G9. Had used an earlier G7 series camera and its probably one of the most capable P&S cams.

Also is there anything that allows instantly naming of the file right after taking the shot, rather than after uploading. It can help with a lot of confusion that happens here.
Fujifilm FinePix S8000fd Review: 1. Introduction: Digital Photography Review
This camera can focus at a distance of 1cm (60mm focal length).
There are others also from canon which have 1cm macro mode.
About file renaming, I doubt there is any camera which does so.

12mm prime? AFAIK Nikon doesn't make a 12mm prime. They have a 14/2.8. For the D300, if you want to go wide, the best option is the 12-24/4 zoom.
What do you need a prime for? How do you plan to use it?

I cannot challenge this because I have not used the 55-250IS. Are you really sure it is sharper than 70-300IS, because it was beng touted as a hidden L lens in quality and price. All reviews of the 70-300IS potray it as a close alternative to 70-200mm L series, but not better. Any reviews on the 55-250IS?

The fuji might break the $750 budget.
my teeny weeine canon 860 can focus to 2cm and so can the Sony H9 but if 1cm is a requirement the Panny FZ18 or Oly 560 are 2 options under $750.

Umm, nope it wont.
And MPower wants sharpness at close focus in 100% crops because its for LAB use.
All tiny P&S will fail there, and since there is no specialized lighting, there will be high ISO related smudging, making macro focus useless
Fujifilm FinePix S6000fd Review: 6. Photographic tests: Digital Photography Review
this is an amazing camera, one of the best Fuji ever made with the Super CCD sensor.
This is the ideal camera for Mpowers application(it has RAW mode also),
Even if light is less than ideal, ISO 400 is very much useable in this camera.
Moreover super macro mode offers 1cm miniumum focus distance.

The Tokina sells for 1/2 the price of the Nikon. if you are looking for a fisheye then the sigma 8mm is one option.

Well amongst the copies I tested, the 55-250IS was significantly sharper, both wide open and stopped down. It might be a case of a single bad copy of the 70-300 so I may be wrong as well as I can't be certain. The only real downer of the 55-250 is that the lens is an EF-S and hence can't be used on film bodies.

There's much difference between the 70-300 IS/55-250 IS and the 70-200 f/4L IS. Frankly I'd not compare them. I guess this 55-250 will last me until I have the money to get a 70-200 f/2.8L IS and a 2x teleconverter.

It is a point & shoot Digital camera with a fixed lens. You can't use any external lens with it. Normally external lenses are available for SLR & big format cameras..

Instead you get optional tele, wide and close up convertors for this model..
