@kb100: The Tamron 90mm - 16.5K and about 13K for 17-50mm.
(BTW how is the Sigma's performance on your 40D)

@given2fly: Both the Tamron 17-50 and 28 -75 are great lenses.
I tried both the lenses for a day and found the 17-50 much sharper,
felt more solid.
To cover the 50-70 range I have the Canon 24-105mm as of now.

As most people here mentioned, the pictures are almost similar and the only gain is an extra 50mm...I've decided not to go for it.

In the meantime I got my old F65 kit exchanged for a Sigma 30mm F 1.4.

Guys, I'm looking for Olympus mju 1030 digital camera in Delhi.

Can any one find out the approximate price in Delhi?

Warranty or no warranty, doesn't matter, but the camera should be new & genuine!

Please do suggest a retailer!

I can also get my self one from the states.

My old Canon A80 is almost dead. The LCD screen and snaps shows a strange rainbow wave these days. Any good service centers in Bangalore?

The new Nikon D700 is out... the same D300 body with a full frame sensor for 1000$ more. Seems like a killer camera from specs.

$1200 more - priced at $3000. Puts it $2000 below the professional D3 and around the same range some people expect the Canon 5D Mark II to come in. It'll be interesting to watch the full frame field over the next few years. Wondering when one might be launched in the $1500 range (the 5D is nearly there now but long after its launch)

Hi Team,

I am looking for DSLR camera now, short listed ones are Nikon D80, Canon EOS 400D and Canoon 450D. Can you please thow light on me about DSLR cams in this rs. 35,000/- to 45,000/- range which would be best. Also which lens for taking photos in Ocean, hill stations.

Camera mostly used to click photos during travel site seeing trips, Functions mainly for family use but need good one because already we own lot of simple digital cameras like panasonic tz3, fuji s7000, kodak. so need camera which would be used to catch some effective scenes where our existing ones cant. This will be used only by one or 2 people in home.

Thanks in advance.

Ravi.

Ravi, the reasons you have provided are not good enough for considering a dSLR. You are better off dealing with high-end prosumer camera.

My suggestion: Fujifilm FinePix S100fs

I see and agree your point Samurai about DSLR. I need high end Prosumer Camera because my requirement is still just playing around kind of thing not serious photography for sure.

I had short listed Fuji 8100fd but was not convinced enough to buy this from my current S7000 because not much difference.

S100fs is good one let me check if I can find it in Bangalore because Fuji marketing strategy is poor in india and service is not good as well.

I couldnot find any P&S cams better compared to my existing cams. so totally confused and thought of going for DSLR.

I like Fuji because even after CCD failure my S7000 is making wonders with clicks. G K Vale guy amazed by some of the 120 photos I got it developed today.

My Fuji camera new CCD is ordered, very soon it will be repaired and at present its still in service station.

Regards,

Ravi.

S7000 is a very good camera. I think the question would be where are you missing good shots, and why?

the big difference between a prosumer camera and a DSLR is the size of the sensor. a APS-C sensor is about 8-10 times bigger in area than a P&S (about 1/2") sensor.

This means that for blow ups and 10x crops the DSLR output will be a lot cleaner than that of the P&S (incl most Prosumers).

If u have the moolah, which you mention you do, why not play around with a dslr rather than a P&S, no matter which catagory it belongs to. Better still, you can also check out both the camera's and then decide. We have a canon store here in Gurgaon which allows you to do so, not sure if they've opened the same in Bangy.
