Re: Which UPS to buy ?

Looking for 1KVA UPS for a friend in a tier-2 town. The local dealer suggested Amaze & was quoting around 17K for a single battery setup with unit. Later found that Amaze is a spin-off of Luminous. While Luminous is promoted by Sachin, Amaze is by Kohli.

We have Microtek at home and working flawlessly for last 3 years. Maintenance-free operation is the criterion. Any recommendation?

Re: Which UPS to buy ?

Looking for a UPS with built in battery backup for about 20 mins for a Netgear Orbi Router (input 12v 2.5A) and a small fiber to lan converter box.

Any suggestions on which UPS to buy?

EDIT: Would this suffice?: https://www.amazon.in/dp/B016XVRKZM/ref=psdc_1375248031_t1_B01ELNPG2I

Re: Which UPS to buy ?

Hi All,

Can someone please suggest a decent UPS to get for the following setup:

1. 55" LED TV (Max Power 149W)
2. HD Set Top Box (20W I guess not sure)
3. We have a few old speakers/amplifier lying around. Attaching pics since I am not a 100% sure how to interpret the power requirement (is it 80W?).

Is this UPS enough for this setup:

1. APC BX600C-IN BACK - UPS 600 UPS https://www.flipkart.com/apc-bx600c-...01602937566962

or do I need something more expensive:

2. APC Back-UPS BX1100C-IN
https://www.flipkart.com/apc-back-up...01602935754422

Thanks in advance

Since power drawn bt speakers and amplifier vary to extreme levels, I suspect it is better to leave them out.

Bought one of those, 6 months back. Has been a HUGE disappointment. It is quite possible I got a lemon of a battery.
The back up now is at best 5 minutes (down from about 15 mins).

What is the load you have on the ups? I have a pretty beefy router (30w) and fibre converter box connected to mine and it lasts for around 35 mins. This is almost as per the specs given on the APC website, for the load I use. I suggest to call the service centre and get the battery replaced, should be free if under warranty.

Ps. Just a thought, do you have battery saver mode on?

Thank you for sharing your experience!

Mine runs with the battery saver mode ON. Mine is 18Watt. So, in theory, should last much much more than the 5 mins I get... but reality has been different.

Will check if battery is covered under warranty. Somehow lethargy in persuing the matter via call centers, takes too much patience & energy. Nonetheless, will give it a shot given that your experience is better. At least now I have more confidence in switching the battery.

I run mine always with the battery saver mode OFF. Apparently when the mode is ON it only runs till the battery gets drained if there is a minimum load. If switched OFF it runs on any load till the battery gets drained. It could be that your load does not meet the threshold and so the UPS is shutting down within a few mins.

Try switching the mode OFF and giving it a go, it may just work!

Thank you very much for the input! I tried with the battery saver mode off and got a runtime of more than 15 minutes and still going. I read up the manual and it says the following.

Quote:
No Load Shutdown
The no load shutdown feature works when the Battery Saver mode is enabled and the Back-UPS is in the On Battery mode. The Back-UPS will shutdown if the connected load draws less than 30 W of power for more than 5 minutes.Disable Battery Saver mode if only low power consuming equipment like ADSL-modem or wi-fi router is connected to the Back-UPS.
my bad.

Re: Which UPS to buy ? Lithium battery based UPS

Any inputs on lithium battery based UPSes? Which brands, combination of battery and electronics would be the best?
Do we have anyone doing something like this for Indian brands:

Re: Which UPS to buy ?

My locality sees nearly 4-5 power cuts a day. So with DG in the background, the start-stop works out to 4 per powercut which makes it 10+ of such events per day. Would you recommend a UPS for the refrigerator ? It cost me INR 60k, hence the worry.

Re: Which UPS to buy ?

If you have a 5 Star rated inverter model, then you can connect fridge to UPS. Only, our Amaron battery lasted 48 months (Previous lasted 7 years). Not sure if these two are related

Re: Which UPS to buy ?

I need a small reliable UPS to plugin my WiFi extender. My apartment power backup takes some 2-3 minutes to get into action. My router has a 12V mini router UPS for it. But I connect to the extender mostly and with frequent power cuts, I think I need a small UPS for that. Any suggestions?

Re: Which UPS to buy ?

I use this one for my router:

https://www.amazon.in/gp/product/B07Y5D31DB/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Works well. Has enough backup for ~5 hours.

==========
Edited to add: Just realised you need one for the extender, not the router. Sorry, no suggestions there :(

Buy any UPS that fits in your budget. The extender can fit directly into the output sockets of the UPS.
