The best sounding dock around as on today is the JBL Mx100. It has now been rebranded as a Harman Kardon. It costs approx 35k in india and the sound is mind blowing.

If you want a piece of art and don't really care about high volumes, checkout the B&W Zeppelin air.

If budget isn't a constraint checkout the Parrot Zikmu. It is the most mind blowing iPod sound dock I have come across. Clarity/bass/beauty. Everything is top of the line. It's also the only sound dock in the market with bluetooth streaming and airplay.

Check it out here : http://zikmu.parrot.com/en/

A store in khan market New Delhi was selling the 2piece set for 80k.

I like these and I I have heard of Sonodyne. Unfortunately one would need separate players for iPod and CD/DVD. No radio either.

Wow!! This is rocking! An all in one player. Just the thing I was looking for. However, I feel it looks too old school and would stand out in a modern room setup. Also, what about HDMI? How much did this cost you?

Ok guys thank you for your valuable inputs. Now the thing is that the ones you have suggested are great but I feel will kae a bit of space especially since they have separate speakers which need to be placed at two ends. Hence my focus has now gone towards Sound Bars which is basically a 'log like' speaker and a wireless sub woofer. What are your reviews and suggestions on these?

Please remember this is for a room of not more than 200 sq feet.

Infractions: 0/3 (13)

I have a Bose Wave System with iPod dock which I bought quite a while ago and it is most definitely a superb product.
But then, a couple of years ago, I won a JBL Sound Dock in a golf tournament as a prize.
At first I did not take it seriously, but when I connected it up and played music from my iPod, iPad and iPhone on it, my god, but it was mind blowing.
I also use it to play streaming music from Internet Radio and the effect is top class.

Because Bose is not good. Relatively speaking of course.

Bose is a very functional and sturdy product but it offers basic sound at best. The problem is that our minds are wired to perceive as the most expensive brand as the best one. That's wrong.

4-5 years back when Jbl/Harman Kardon and the likes had not established themselves here, Bose was perceived as superior. Now Other brands have worked on their tech and advanced, Bose is still where it was 4-5 years back.

I have 4 sound docks including a b&o.
JBL/Harman kardon offers the kind of sound that nobody else offers.

I think the larger question is what are you looking for.

1. If your looking for basic sound, sturdiness and deep bass, Bose is the one for u

2. If you're looking for crystal clear sound and sharp audio JBL MX100 may do it for you.

3. If your looking for a mix of both and visual appearance and beauty + brand is top of mind then go for the b&w zeppelin air or Bang and olufsen. Of course these are the most expensive

Portable speaker - Whats an easy way to play music?

Hello! Slightly OT query, but more or less on the same lines. Hence posting on this thread. Didn't want to create a new one.

I am in fix. I have been gifted a JBL pulse, which is a great way to play music, with some colors.

I have been playing 'Tune-in' radio off it for a while; using the app from my mobile phone; connected to the speaker via bluetooth. Problem is; I have only one phone; and this activity is draining away battery a lot quicker than desired.

I am thinking of buying a cheap phone (may be used) just to play music off Tune-in radio. The phone wont have a sim; it would be connected via WiFi. It would be played for an hour or so on week days. Before I do that, I wanted to check if there was a better way to stream music, given my situation.

Re: Portable IPod music system - Bose SoundDock? Anything else?

I have the Bose SoundDock and since my latest iPod is with the lightning port, I have been contemplating getting a Bluetooth adapter instead (of a 30pin-lightning adapter) so it increases the functionality.

Any recommendations?

Turns out a BT adapter is pointless on my dock (Series 1) because this version doesn't have a charge the accessory (which would be necessary for the BT adapter).

So, I'm looking for a 30-pin to USB/3.5mm jack adapter.

The Bose Sounddock that I have, only has the 30mm connector for input. Hence, even to use Chromecast audio, I'd need a 30mm to AUX adapter.

That is a bummer. I can recommend you a Denon CEOL system but that is not portable at all.

Also, I wish to understand why are members against BOSE systems? I have a couple of their products and they work fantastically.

Re: Portable IPod music system - Bose SoundDock? Anything else?

I have Bowers and Wilkins Zeppelin air play, it has the physical connector for old gen iPhone, iPods, can use the adaptor for new gen apple products along with air play, which is flawless. Love their patented "filling the room" sound reproduction, the best ever sound I ever heard on any iPod docking system.

Re: Portable IPod music system - Bose SoundDock? Anything else?

I picked up this in US for a dead cheap price of $25

http://www.amazon.in/Ultra-Portable-...c-51e04be338dd

It is an excellent Bluetooth speaker and clarity of sound is to be heard to believed. It has the highest rating at Amazon.com with over 5000 user feedback (US Website)

There is a $199 Bose Bluetooth speaker in family and clarity of Bose is little better but, volume was lower than Oontz. And, with that much price difference, its a no brainer which is more VFM
