acer has come up with a new 10 incher check on their website. acer.co.in

its good and can be had under 20k easily.

But you people might want to wait, as this is still in an infant stage (netbook lineup)

current cpu is developed from celeron core.

the newer upcomming DC atom with higher l2 cache will be worth waiting.

If you want a pink color, then your unanimous choice is Acer Aspire One. If color choice is not an issue, Ideapad S10 is worth considering. My suggestion is go for Acer. I am a proud owner of a blue Acer Aspire One AoA 150. The latest Acer Aspire One AoD 150 is a 10 incher and supposed to be better built too. As someone has already mentioned. But there is no use waiting when you've decided to buy. In the gadget world, anything you buy today is outdated tomorrow. So let the buying be need-based.

You'll need an external DVD writer. Aspire one or for that matter any other 'netbook' will not feature a DVD drive.

i guess the sony vaio one has a dvd drive. I have seen a gentleman using it on flight - and oh my god the battery lasted a full 7 hours before he got bored and switched it off.

Acer aspire one is my stuff. 3 cell battery lasts around 3 hours. Good one for all kinds of normal stuff you want to do. got in dec08 for 17k. 8.9", 160gb, 1gb, xp home. works like a charm.

I formatted my acer aspire one and moved from Linux to Win XP all done at home. Its not as easy as it sounds, had to take the help of youtube video tutorial to get it done without issues.

I am planning to get a mini laptop, HP mini seems to be a costly. Lenovo S10, Acer comes closely. Lenovo seems to be compact compared to the Acer. Which one should be the best with service backups. I believe the new S10 comes with Bluetooth etc which were not present before.

Any comments from S10 users ?

The MRP difference between the Acer Aspire One with Linux and the other with XP is 3K.
I use windows and Linux (Ubuntu). Linux is much better. It's easy to use. Once you use Linux, you'll want to throw "Windows" out of the "Window".

And if you have any problem with Linux, there's always the Linux Support Thread on T-BHP. I've use it to resolve my Linux problems.
