Condor, not only is the k790i at a discount, do consider that it might seem a little dated :D Also, sony batteries don't last more than 1-1.5 day at good usage - 1.5+ hours talk, about 10 photos taken a day, about half an hour use of bluetooth.

Flame is the worst phone from o2 , you could better try out Htc Tyn II (Kaiser) .

I have a Nokia 6233 now is a very good looking model and has lot of features, I was using a Nokia 6230 till aug.

Got the RAZR V8 last week. Some first impressions to those considering it:
PROS:
1. Great to look at. Anyone looking at a style statement stop here.
2. Robust OS (Linux based?). My experience and several reviews dont have any complaints of hanging up / glitches ( a la new Nokias)
3. Fast OS : Much faster response than some new Nokias I have experienced.
4. Acceptable battery life. With moderate use, goes to about 2 days.
CONS
1. Flip phone : Heavy users avoid. Or get a bluetooth headset.
2. Software takes getting used to. For Nokia users.
3. Horrible camera (not that I care).
I used my previous Nokia for quite a while, and changed over to another brand only because I feel Nokia has lost its software edge. All I wanted was a good-looking phone to talk (no camera, PDA blah blah blah).
Very happy with razr. Thanks to R.P.M. and Devarshi for helping me out make the right choice.

They (HTC) are kind of stuck on the QVGA res or something. I think the JasJar was the last phone from HTC with VGA (640 x 480) res.
Higher res makes almost
every application better. You get to see more per screen. VGA is particularly good for browsing and movie-watching.
For browsing, because you get to see more text at a time, and because the fonts generally look better.
For movies, because they look better, and more important, because there are lesser conversion issues. If you have home videos of the 640x480 res in DivX or XviD that you'd like to watch on the phone, you don't need to do any conversion-giri (to 320x240) to enjoy them on the phone. Just copy them to the phone and fire them up on TCPMP.
Larger resolution is also a boon for remote-desktop applications (like logmein) where you can see and control your desktop screen from your handheld's screen. The higher the resolution, the better you will be able to see elements in the desktop screen (on the handheld screen). And of course lesser sideways and up-down scrolling.
I guess the processor-load is higher for VGA resolution, and a more powerful processor would drive costs up substantially. That could be why we don't see too many VGA (or higher) resolution screens out there.

If that was the premise, Moto Krazr is much cheaper and has everything V8 has except that its not a smart phone.

Did see it, but it just didnt "feel" as nice to hold / touch. For e.g., there may be better MP3 players there, but the iPod "feels" so much better. As Sam posted....when you see one, you want one.
Rush, you got a Motorola! I'm surprised! However, after using one for almost a year now, you can expect it to hang and slow down once you load it up. Make sure you stay up-to-date with the firmware upgrades though. Linux is ok if you take the effort to learn how to mod it. It's a painful process just to get a new theme installed, and wrongly done can brick the phone!
