I get around 3 days. But it took 3 - 4 recharge cycles. Earlier it did not last even a day.

People with N82.... hows the battery life? Mine barely lasts a single day these days and that too without heavy usage. I am thinking there is some process running in the background which is consuming all the battery.... is there any process veiwer application that can tell me about the background processes running on my phone and lets me kill the unwanted one's. |
Same with me as well. My phone earlier used to last for 1.5 days. But these days not even a day. Im wondering as well what is it thats eating the battery.
Few days back this was my usage:
3 hrs Bluetooth
30 mins of movie
4 hrs talktime
And Battery Low!!
Yesterday,
3 hrs talktime
45 mins - Bluetooth Transfer
Battery Low!
A week back when I used to play Fifa 08 for 3 hrs together battery drained. I had to charge 3 times that day. lol
Any solution?

I have, what may probably be, one of the older Nokia N82s. It was bought on 31st Dec. 2007. The battery lasts at least 5-7 days between recharges.
GPS is battery intensive, as is playing loud music for long periods of time.
Yes, I am guilty of not bothering to upgrade my firmware.
firmware for N82 reads :
V 10.0.046
24-10-07
RM-313
Nokia N82 (25.01)

My usage yesterday
30 mins of calls
1.5 Hours MP3 + Radio
1.5 Hrs bluetooth transfer
Also when I am listening to music I usually set the screen brightness to its lowest setting since I change the song selecting from the playlist.
The funny part is that when I slept at night it was still showing full battery and was dead by the time I woke up in the morning! Yes the phone was turned off!

Now thats something i had never heard before!
I must say the N Series batteries are quiet tricky. Sometimes when i sleep at night my N95 8gb shows almost full battery inspite of heavy usage in the daytime and when i get up in morning its almost finished. beats me!

Or may be it has something to do with the battery meter?
No, he must be sleeping in a AC-chilled room where the signal drops down to 1/10th! :p

5-7 days? What have you done to it Ram Sir? If my phones lasts for 2 days, I'll throw a party! What is your usage?
I have some Nokia Energy Application. It shows me some weird graphs about my battery and phone. I dont understand anything.

Luckily, nothin as such happens.
I think battery life is a hit and miss depending on your luck... sometimes you get a good battery sometimes a dud ?
Also I followed the age old practice of calibrating the battery (discharge till dead then recharge). Followed 2 such cycles initially and then maybe once or twice because I was on the go I let it go till the low battery warning.
Now from what I hear apparently this is not needed with new age batt's but also potentially harmful and damaging to the battery life :Frustrati

Perhaps his phone doesnt have a SIM card in it.

Sirji battery life depends upon network too. I have tried this somewhat and if signal is good battery lasts long if not good it is consumed more for searching signal lol:
No matter what calibrating once in 3 months is important i guess. I do let my phone and laptop discharge until it shows low batt and turn them off and plug them in and after fully sharged i use them both are working fine for years now. Just don't let you phone switch off while at low batt and its all good.
abhibh, if low signal was the case then I completely agree where half of my battery gets drained.
But I get full connectivity at my house and where ever I go.

Update : I just got the speakers on my N82 changed in warranty. Both had gone kaput after a 1hr long conference on speakerphone :Frustrati

Connectivity indication (the bar graph) is a misleading indication. It only indicates working signal strength relative to the CURRENT RF POWER LEVEL at the input of the discriminator stage (the one which figures out the 1s and 0s from the radio signal).
The RF Power Level is a dynamic setting based on the relative carrier signal strength (modulated by communicating with the cell tower; also used by the cell to know how far you are and use it for e911!). This sets the Gain of the internal RF receiver / transmitter amps. Signal drops, Gain is upped; signal improves, gain is set back. Higher the gain needed, more the battery drain.
Unfortunately, the bar graph only indicates within the band that the current gain setting can handle without dropping out, without actually indicating how bad it is for the RF section currently. There are utilities available (I had one running on my 3650 years back, till I got bored of telling Airtel how bad their signal levels are) which can actually measure and tell you the actual signal level (in dBm).
PS: "Younger" people like Ram and me are relatively less disturbed by calls on the cell! At our age, life takes on a different meaning for us, as do communications and its means. Ergo, longer time between charges! :p
PPS: Battery capacity also goes down with ambient temperature
hi guys, any idea of any kind of T9/predictive text input for nokia 9300 communicator?
