By good camera and music player i can think of Sony Eric models. Dont know about the dropping to ground thing though.

I have pretty good experience with nokia being dropped to ground frequently. No trouble even after the phone accidently dropped from 1st floor!!!

I guess the new nokia models should also be durable.

In reality no problem with low light and a little prob with capturing fast action
in usage. N82 does not have a better camera as specifications for camera are same for both phones. 8gb just don't have Xenon so loses just a tad bit in dark area pictures.

Not entirely true as am using one since may last year and nothing gets scratched and no quality image issues as well. But yes a cover would have been good.

And who told you 8gb is slow in anyway- try it once and you'll be surprised! Yes SD card is an advantage in N82. However how much memory do you use on your phone. I have filled just 3 gb since i got ot 8 months back with end number of applications,games,800 pics and 5 movies as well.

Not true at all. Try transfering the files and you'll see how fast it is. Yes having a card does provide easy to use option.
Lets check this also -
Compared to the N82, the N95 8GB:
Screen: The N95 8GB has a 2.8” while the N82 has the 2.4” screen. It doesn’t seem like a lot on paper, but consider that even compared against the the classic N95’s 2.6” the N95 8GB's screen looks huge. People prefer bigger screen, the N95 8GB has the clear advantage here.

Dedicated Music controls: Music is a big part of the Nseries. Being the smartphones that they are, both the N95 8GB and the N82 are capable of multi-tasking. This means that you could be playing your favorite tune or podcast in the background while performing other tasks. Lacking music keys means that you have to “minimize” what you’re doing to control your music. The N95 8GB's dedicated muisc keys allows you to controls your music while performing other tasks like playing N-Gage games. Another win for the N95 8GB.

Irda port: Many people use the good old Irda port; it’s still very popular among businessmen, so why remove such a feature? The Irda port might be a bit dated, but there are many uses for this trusty old port like Psiloc’s Total irRemote.

Both are good phones and looks are subjective as usual:)

Gentlemen! How's it going.. I've been in slumber for a few months now.. busy with work..

This discussion b/w harry 10 and Ram have brought back memories from a year ago when I was in the same boat.. I argued with Ram..even on the phone and finally settled for the n95 8gig for the same reasons that Harry has outlayed.
But maybe, just maybe, had the n82 been available in black at that time, I would have gone for it.

Wanted to know if n95 users have come across any cool applications lately. I used wwigo for using my phone as a webcam and it's pretty nifty I thought.

I am looking for:
1. A good application that will allow me to upload videos without too much of a fuss directly on some internet site that is commonly used by many. Till now, I have been uploading videos only thru my laptop.

2. Image: Is there an application that would allow me to post process my pics with a magical single button tool like 'I'm feeling lucky' in Picassa? The lack of this function in my phone is probably the only thing that keeps me from uploading photos directly from my phone to the net.

3. Any other cool/useful apps.. pls put them up here.

I totally agree with RAM on the XENON flash part, its something all camera phones should have. Anyway i'm thinking of picking up a n82 again this time in "BLACK" color, or i will wait for N86 but they say its gonna cost 375euros on launch :O

And N82 has a very fast GPS. The new firmware 3.0.0.... makes it even faster.

@Ram, I must agree with you. Somebody for whom the N82 was a perfect solution will not be able to get a new phone that fills the N82's shoes completely. Another TBHPian and I were having just the same discussion 3 days back -- he wanted to get a new phone, but we both could not figure out which of the current ones were the best replacements. I think he too bought another N82.

A friend's sister needs a new phone. Was wondering which one would be a good option.

Features required,

1. Wi-Fi is a must
2. Keyboard like Keypad if available
3. Camera not required
4. Should look good in a girls hand :Frustrati

Budget is 15k, 20k if stretched to the fullest. I know there aren't a lot of choices here, but would appreciate any help.

On the contrary I feel updating to 300.** has made the GPS slow on my Nokia 82.
The previous version was the best when it comes to GPS sensitivity.

Its only an eye wash. This is the worst accelerometer implementation that I have seen in a phone since it only work in one orientation mode. I have it switched off in my phone ever since I bought it. Under Menu > Tools > Settings > Connection > Wireless LAN, what must the 'Show WLAN availability' be set to -- 'Never' or 'Yes'?
If Yes, what should 'Scan for networks' be set to?
