Today morning I saw my mom's mobile phone getting lighted up repeatedly. When i took it I saw numbers getting typed automatically and then dialled. This was going on and on. None of the keys were working and had to remove the battery. Same result when i put put the battery back and switched it on again. This is a very old Nokia phone. Not smart. Any idea what might have caused this?

I was any way planning to buy her a new one. Any suggestion for a very basic phone which is good in ease of use. Only purpose will be to receive and make calls. Would be nice to have bigger keys for better visibility
I had the same experience with my Nokia N70 2 years ago when moisture went inside. even after lots of attempts to dry it using light / sunlight, i couldn't solve this issue. i had to give it to Nokia service center for repair.
Nokia Asha series might be useful for your Mom. just have a look in case.

Mobike008, that is the iPhone 4 that you're referring to.

If anyone in B'lore knows where this phone is available, in White for Rs. 9990 [or lesser], please could you share the details of the availability? Thanks.
Hi k_ajay,
I have recently purchased Micromax A110 for my cousin. I used it for a day and was impressed. I had ordered from Flipkart and received it within 2 days for 9990/-

Here are some of the Pics of the phone

If you purchase it now, it might come with Jelly Bean out of box.

If not, it will prompt you to upgrade when you setup a WiFi network on it, you just need to let update run (it might take couple of hours depending on net connection)

Turn on device encryption if you are going to store emails etc on phone. Otherwise, coming from BB it might be a shocker to find out anyone can easily get data out of phone.

...Not me. I love my BB even now

I bought this phone for wifey who is moving away from a BB 8520. She is not a hardcore emails user thus an S3 makes sense.

S3 will be her second phone (personal) while she has another from office.

Shankar, did you end up buying the 300? I was looking to get a phone for my mom - currently oscillating between Asha 300 and 311.

Sir, You really think the resale value of Apple iPhone 4S is only 5,000 Rupees? :-)

The price offered for my iPhone 4S is 29,000 - The New S3 costs about 34,000 - Ideally i would pay 5,000 from my pocket for the new device.

To me, the 4s is behind the S3, but not by much; which is why assumed that it was valued at 5k on account of its condition. Poor assumption on my part.

Yes and she is very happy with it too because it has a physical keyboard as well as the touch keyboard. Good buy overall we think.

Thanks Shankar! Very helpful indeed.
Yeah, I guess the physical keypad helps. The only add on I found on the 311 was the wifi option.
