There is however one irritating grouse with the phone. When I am on a conference call using the headset or on speaker phone, the display times out in the stipulated time. To turn the display back on, you need to press the power button. Just touching the screen does not bring it back on.

Example: You are on a conference call using speakerphone. You put yourself on mute. The display turns off after the set time, as is expected. When you need to talk and unmute, you need to turn the display on by pressing the power/home button then the unmute button.
Hi Vid,

I also never faced any issue till i was using SGS3, only major issue people report is that SGS3 or SGS2 have cheap plastic being used for such a high end phone, but I look at it as an advantage than negative as this helps in keeping the phone weight low and chances of damages due to accidental fall to a low level.

For screen display turning off, you can switch on smart stay option (I guess you already would have but still thought would advice) or you can increase the timeout or you can use Screen on app. This app is available for free. Link is provided below.

Smart stay option works only when you are looking at the phone. Increasing timeout or using the screen on app keeps the display on as well and takes up battery. In the iphone, the display switches off but the capacitive touch still remains on during a call. That was very useful.

As for the cheap plastic feel, I have this on my phone which makes it feel incredibly solid and provides great protection:

That is true to a certain extent though it is not because of Branded vs Non Branded.

Phone must have a unique IMEI number. Initial import of cheap phones did not have that and were declared illegal.

If you are importing from a site like dealextreme / alibaba, ask if the tablet would have "Unique IMEI".

Thats a great cover and indeed protects the phone from everything except fury of mother nature like earthquakes/landslides etc

How many color options available? Also, what price you got it for and from where?

Was contemplating buying the i-phone 5 but endless wait and pricing is deterring me. The Nexus 4 seems to a pretty potent competitor and costs less than half. I'm not really those whose store endless music / movies on my phone so 16GB seems just fine. Not much into gaming either.

You guys think it's a worthy buy. Since its being launched by LG any feed back on LG phones don't know anyone using them.

Any idea which will be the cheapest Nokia with WiFi connectivity? I am looking for a simple Nokia for my mom. She would prefer a regular keypad phone instead of those with touchscreens. It will be very helpful if someone can give me the model name/number. Thanks!

I don't think the regular keypad phones come with wi-fi.
The cheapest nokia with wifi would be Asha 302 (Qwerty) or Asha 311(Touchscreen).

Asha 302 is worth considering. Not compatible with Skype Buy

Motorola EX226 is also as good if you're willing to look outside Nokia. It's keypad appears more user friendly than any that Nokia now has and it comes for 30% lesser than Asha 302. I'm not ure about Skype compatibiity though. Buy

Thank you. Well, she is used to regular Nokia. We tried to see if she is comfortable with Windows OS (HTC HD7), but she still prefer a Nokia. Her current phone is E52, just about to go dead. I am thinking to let go the WiFi and get her a C2-01.

Thanks again!

re: The Mobile Phone Thread - Queries, decisions, discussions all here

Anyone knows whats the current best online rate for Samsung Galaxy S3? I see its cheapest on ebay for Rs.31,000

Any other website that offers better deals?

Brick and mortar stores like Croma, Reliance Digital etc are all quoting Rs.33,500

The more you dig, the more confused you are, well thats the case with me now.

Started with Karbon A21 and MM Canvas A110, but now a slowly moving towards Nokia Lumia 710. saw the demo of the phone and am very impressed.

Does it makes sense to spend 15k on it? please help me make a decision
btw am planning to buy the phone from "flipkart"...
