Yaar the BB is an overkill for my dad. He does not need push email or BBM. The extra 199 bucks would also be an unnecessary charge. And daily charging in case of a BB would be a culture shock for a person who is used to charging once in 2-3 days.

I wish E71 was still available. The most legendary non-BB QWERTY phone ever. I have looked at E6 and C3 and they look good. I have used E5 and its decent. Yes there are software glitches and connectivity mood-swings which are worrying me.

I'm surprised at how well optimized Nokia phones are. Most models come with 1200/1500 mah batteries but last well over 2 days with heavy usage!

While going through the reviews of A100 I also came across KarbonnA18 which also has equally good reviews. Now Which one will be better?
I also heard Spice is coming with almost similar Mi500.

Doc, I would not put my serious money on karbon, spice etc., especially since it is for the wife. Why not the HTC explorer ? I use one and am v.v. happy with it.

re: The Mobile Phone Thread - Queries, decisions, discussions all here

Friends, I am in a dilemma.

I am currently using a 3-4 years old non touch screen feature phone and a 3-4 years old windows laptop. Both are performing their duties satisfactorily.

But I'm getting the itch to buy a touch screen mobile and/or a tablet for casual browsing, GPS, videos, gaming etc.

I know its not correct to compare apples to oranges, but the cost of a mid range android phone (like Samsung Galaxy S Advance) is the same as that of a 7 inch tablet (like Samsung Tab2 3100).

Lets say I have 20k to blow, is it better to buy an Android phone or an Android tablet ?

well I agree with you after going through reviews of above phones.

How is LG optimus L3 E400? Looks are good and specs are comparable to slightly more expensive phones.Any specific problem this phone has?

I personally use the galaxy tab2 and its a very good device. I have kept it for homemuse but have also seen many people carry it as a substitute to their phones. Even my dad carries it sometimes to the office in his trouser pocket.

Somehow hadn't seen the Atrix 2. Looks like a nice option and I'll go see it tomorrow and most likely pick it up...

re: The Mobile Phone Thread - Queries, decisions, discussions all here

Urgent ! Help !
A friend of mine wants to buy an android. The budget is 12-14K. It should be reliable with a decent cam, at least a 3.5" screen.

What i have suggested for now is:
1. Motorola Defy plus
2. Sony ericsson Xperia Tipo (ICS but small screen)
3. Galaxy Ace duos (No galaxy ace because of 170mb onboard storage)
4. Micromax A90/A100 (Wanted to go for it but it has been weeks since i placed order on Flipkart, and no response till now. Cancelled)

Please suggest one ! Might go for one today in the evening itself !
Thanks

Available at Rs. 9999 on 13 September at 12:00 noon.

Please don't ask me about how good the phone is, since I have no idea about Windows based phones these days.

You will get this for 9,999/- on 13th Sep at 12 noon. You will see a gift coupon code on this Link when the deal starts. You just have to enter that code on the payment page & the price of 11,999/- you see now would be reduced to 9,999/-.

I have been to the store to decide on a phone for months now.

No particular requirements apart from a good overall experience with fast processor, office email, good camera and good battery life. The Xperia is good all round except that having a non-changeable battery is a let down.

Budget is around 20K roughly but surely not above 25k. My trouble is that there are so many phones
My current situation is alot similar. I quite like the Xperia looks compared to the plain HTC/ Samsung look. But I am unsure if an non-accessable battery is a major issue.

My consideration set,
1. Xperia U (battery accessable)
2. Xperia Sola
3. Xperia P

About my usage, I use my phone for a longer duration, my current phone 5800 has been with me from 2009! Its still fine, the battery backup as gone down a bit and I want something different. I would like to buy something reliable at this price point.

Request your suggestion.

TIA.
