I am planning to buy that as my secondary phone. My primary phone is an iphone5 which is still working without any issues.

Just want an android phone for easy transfer of songs, videos, etc.

Have almost decided on the HTC 816G.

It's a stripped down version of more expensive and powerful HTC 816.

816G is a good phone considering the screen size and HTC tag. You can go ahead with it.

Alternatively, also consider Moto G2.

Increase your budget and get a OnePlus One. It will be a better choice and a good competitor to your iPhone. Also who doesn't like 64 Gigs of internal memory? Probably you might even keep the iPhone aside after getting used to the OPO.

Budget is not a concern, as the phone will be my secondary phone. The iphone will always be the primary phone. So the question is, is the HTC good enough to be used as a secondary phone ??

re: The Mobile Phone Thread - Queries, decisions, discussions all here

Hi Team,

Just an update.I am here in Singapore and recently went to India for ten days. The owner of the flat in which I rented a single room, wanted a phone with good battery backup along with few basic specifications like 1 GB Ram, good camera, 5 inches screen, dual sim and 3G enabled.

I was a bit confused but laid my hands on Lava Fuel 60 finally. It is having all the right things which one expect in a budget phone. So, I bought one for him.

Today he was quite surprised and happy to see that the phone was on for two days and battery was still showing 76% left.He was very happy by this mobile.

So, I am going to buy this for me also when again I am back in India.I really hate those mobile phones which continuously needs charging, whether you are in office, car, metro, bus or even at home and sometimes I feel sick of this battery charging feeling which keeps on lingering 24x7. And to make matter worse, first thing I check in morning in the mobile battery.

By the way I own Canvas HD and it will be completing 2 years in April 2015.

Regards,
Lalit Tyagi

Hi Team,

I am happy to update that the Lava mobile (Iris Fuel 60) which I bought for the flat owner in Singapore went on continuously for 1 week .Today its battery got completely discharged.Hence, I am now having a solid faith on the battery of this mobile and its capacity in under INR 10,000 price band.

Regards,
Lalit Tyagi

What did you finally do?

Finally BIL took the plunge with Moto G 2nd gen which was just launched that time and thats doing the job fine since then. MotoG also has got stereo speakers similar like 816G.
I'm almost in full agreement here with TBPP.
Please realize the 1.3 mediatek is meant as a low end processor - not a really good idea IMHO. The 1.3 runs the android one phones really well. You'd expect a bit more from a phone coming from someone used to the fluidity of a iphone.

Got the HTC 816G today. It's not at all lag free, like the iphone, but i dint even expect it to be. As i had heard from my friends, iphone is the only phone which is completely lag free.

The phone is quite good, though the size feels extra large. Have to use both my hands to operate the phone, unlike the iphone.

As i earlier said, this will be my secondary phone and will mostly be used for music, movies, videos, etc which i now can get easily from friends ;-)

re: The Mobile Phone Thread - Queries, decisions, discussions all here

Hi friends. I am looking for an Android Smartphone. I just came across Lenovo A6000. The phone is yet to be launched.

http://www.flipkart.com/lenovo-a6000...BE3762KWZZYZHZ

This phone seems to be interesting which offers all the features that are found in 15K priced phones.

I am only worried about the internal memory which is 8GB. My only question is, will it be lag free? Will multitasking be easy?

I am not looking for any gaming etc but I would want easy browsing and operation of important applications like banking apps etc.

If not this phone, which is the one that I can look into. I am open to spend upto 15K

Your suggestions are appreciated. Thanks in advance

Try heera panna, i got my iphone5's battery replaced from there. That guy has a lot of spare parts And that will be definitely cheaper than sony.

Apple quoted me 27k, claiming that they don't replace batteries, and I'll be getting a new phone for 27k.

Wow 27k is a lot. It's better to buy a new phone or do what you did.

It'll definetly be cheaper than sony but are they reliable? My friend got his screen replaced (same phone) at citi center, mumbai central and said his screen quality isn't as good as the original.

It's quite reliable, as most of my friends replace their phone parts such as battery, display, etc from him. And AFAIK, he uses genuine parts.
My battery is workin fine too, till date.

Memory should not be an issue, as you can expand upto 32GB using SD card. If you buy good SD card (Class 10 etc), there won't be any lag. I am more concerned about RAM. Only 1 GB RAM sometimes becomes bottleneck; particularly if the default UI is heavy and filled with bloat-ware.

I'll share my experience of two phones with the key difference of RAM. I brought Xiaomi Redmi 1S for my mother; it has 1GB RAM. It used to often slow down and hang. Even after update from Xiaomi (improved memory management) it is still slow.

With the experience of Redmi 1S I decided to buy a 2GB RAM phone for myself. I was looking for a dual-SIM phone with 2GB RAM. At that time the Redmi Note 3G was launched and I was able to purchase that before Flash Sale (being a Filpkart First member). I've been using this phone for around 2 months and no lagging or heating issues. Though the sale of 3G variant is now stopped due to legal issues (IPR), the 4G variant is still on sale (Rs. 9,999) but it supports only single SIM. The only problem I had initially was with the overall size (5.5" screen), but now I am used to it.

Moreover I prefer rooting; and rooted both the above phones; installed Link2SD; and Freeze unwanted apps to free up RAM.

Based on my experience, if you are looking for single SIM phone, and your budget permits, try Redmi Note 4G. Otherwise you may go for Lenovo A6000 or any other phone in that range (Redmi 1S etc.) and try memory management tricks. You may also want to look at Yureka Yu, but you should be careful of aftersales service as Micromax has got a bit of negative reputation in that area.

Thanks dude. That was really very helpful.

Considering the 2GB RAM, I am looking at Asus Zenfone 5 A501CG (16GB) which is priced at Rs.9999. Specifications looks good. But the main problem is the 2110 MAH battery which is terrible for such a phone.

http://www.flipkart.com/asus-zenfone...a-f6e733458e60

I do not want to go for Redmi 4G as I want dual sim without a second thought.

Do you have any other phone in your mind or will Asus itself suffice?

Once again thanks for your timely help..
