I am looking at Asus Zenfone 5 A501CG (16GB) which is priced at Rs.9999. Specifications looks good. But the main problem is the 2110 MAH battery which is terrible for such a phone.

Do you have any other phone in your mind or will Asus itself suffice?

I don't have any information on ASUS quality or service. But reviews on Flipkart weigh both ways. Considering your requirements, Asus Zenfone 5 A501CG and Yureka Yu fit the bill. However, you may look at Motorola Moto G (2nd Gen) for Rs. 12,999, it may have only 1GB RAM, but its has lightest OS (vanilla as they say), with negligible resource hungry bloatware. I see many happy customers.

As for the battery on ASUS, I agree it is bit small compared to competition. But you can consider the fact that ASUS has a smaller screen (5.0"), so lesser battery consumption. Also, as I said earlier, if you are willing to root the phone then you can remove bloatware, which hogs the RAM and keeps CPU in action, and save on battery life.

If I had a choice of 5.0" Redmi Note vs 5.5" Redmi Note, I would have opted for former. It would have been more practical to use and better battery life. But we don't get easy choices. Do we ??

One of my friend's 'Moto E' is not playing any sound after a fall. Looks like speakers have gone for a toss, not sure. If not DIY, Is there any repair shop in and around JP Nagar, B'lore?

Once again thanks for your timely help..

When it comes to mobile phones I usually look at Gsmarena.com. I would recommend going through review of this phone here.http://www.gsmarena.com/asus_zenfone_5-5952.php.

In my opinion battery should be okay as the processor is pretty frugal and screen is not that bright to suck much power. Moreover you can go in task manager and disable some of the bloatware so that those programs dont suck too much power.

Guys, people are buying dash cams for their cars which are cheap Chinese make and akin to failure. I was thinking is it possible to get a decent mobile camera and use it for recording instead of a dash cam? Any suggestions as what one could go for withing 5k range and good expandable memory capacity. I do not intent to use a sim card in same and will be used as a dash cam only. Any tips on mobiles with good video recording capability ? Nokia maybe ?

Thanks

I would suggest looking for a second hand Lumia handset, even a 5mp Nokia camera captures a better image than some of these higher megapixels Chinese phones selling these days. If a new phone is still what you require in 5k budget, then look at this phone

About 3 months ago, my Iphone4 had hardware issue and the service centre gave an option of buyback of phone with new one for Rs.9,300/-
Now the new phone had a fall and the display has broken. Now when I went service centre, they are not providing display replacement, but again asking me to go for phone replacement at Rs9,300/-
Is that true that apple does not provide spares and repair ?

As a general rule, the Apple service center does not repair the phones onsite. Damaged phones are apparently sent in to the factory to be repaired. As a result, Apple has fixed repair/replacement charges defined for phones which are deemed as physical damage by user error, or outside the realms of warranty replacement. This is dependent on the phone model.

The "repair" is actually a swap of the damaged phone for another refurbished device of similar specifications.

Your options in this case is to try your luck with neighborhood mobile repair shops, since your phone is anyway out of warranty or else pay the 9300 and get it swapped over at the apple service center.

Hi friends. I am looking for an Android Smartphone. I just came across Lenovo A6000. The phone is yet to be launched.

http://www.flipkart.com/lenovo-a6000...BE3762KWZZYZHZ

This phone seems to be interesting which offers all the features that are found in 15K priced phones.

I am only worried about the internal memory which is 8GB. My only question is, will it be lag free? Will multitasking be easy?

I am not looking for any gaming etc but I would want easy browsing and operation of important applications like banking apps etc.

If not this phone, which is the one that I can look into. I am open to spend upto 15K

Your suggestions are appreciated. Thanks in advance

Spend an extra 3k and go for the one plus one 16gb which is going to be launched shortly. Meets all your requirements and it's a real flagship killer. If you can't stretch your budget, moto g 2014 is the best bet. It is the most lag free phone for that money despite being only medium specs. Don't go for phones with heavy software overlays like xiaomi, Samsung, Asus etc as they'll have a larger footprint on ram and will start to lag.

Hi guys,

An urgent question.

Can a moto g2 bought in India be used in Denmark (Europe) ? Provided ofcourse international roaming is enabled on the indian carrier (Vodafone India).
Is there issue with GSM band or something between Denmark and India?

please advise.

Thanks!

A quad band phone will work in Europe too.

To be doubly sure, you may cross check the frequency bands being used by Denmark mobile service providers with those supported on your phone.

My 2012 MY Galaxy S3 worked without a hitch all over Europe(Including DK).

So I guess you are good to go.:thumbs up

Hi guys, I needed a sounding board so feel free to express your opinions. I currently need a secondary phone. I was using a nokia 208ds (3g, dual micro sim, 4000), unfortunately my cousin went and lost it on a trip.

Here are my requirements:
-should be a dual sim phone (for both wife and me)
-used primarily when we leave india for months at a time, we still need to know if anyone calls our indian numbers
-data is utterly of no use, I really just need to receive calls, preferably use the same charger (micro-usb)
-should have decent battery life on standby
-preferably micro-usb, otherwise would have to travel with the sim adapters.

the nokia is ideal, its durable, 3g compatible, quad band for travel, micro-usb charging, and dual micro sim. However, it seems nokia/microsoft has discontinued it but its still available on online sites for 5-6k. Now that makes me pause for a second. I'm paying 6k for a basic phone.

So I thought I'd look around and all I can find in that price range is a moto E. Admittedly, its a much more advanced phone but for what? the wife and I both have the nexus5 and its running great. I would assume the moto E would need to be charged a lot more often since it is more advanced. I'm not considering getting a micromax or similar phones due to the fact that I need something reliable and dependable.

So I guess my question is, nokia 208, moto e, or __________?

Go for Android One device like Micromax Canvas A1 or Spice Dream Uno. These are available online at around 5k.

These Android One phones are not like the usual Micromax or Spice phones, these are dependable and trouble free.

They come with stock android, so you'll feel right at home since you are using Nexus phones.
