Guys I need some help with the new Samsung Spica fone;

I have imported all the contacts from my sim to the fone twice already. Still when I compose a message via the messaging icon, and click contacts it does not display any fone numbers. The message I get is "no contacts with phone numbers". but when I exit the messaging and click the CONTACTS icon, all my sim contacts are visible.

How do i get my sim contacts while messaging after composing a message ?

Bought Samsung Metro 3310 for my Dad for Rs 3750/- yesterday. I would say it has every feature we need in our phones. It has
- 2 GB card
- FM Radio
- 2 MP camera
- Video Recording
- Bluetooth
- MP3/Mp4 support to play music
- Speaker phone.
- Light weight I guess 77 g
- GPRS
- 2.1 in screen

I guess cheap phone market is getting hot now a days. So far so good.

Doesn't that happen in ANY phone if one switches the phone off (powers down)? How will the phone power itself on unless triggered by the Power-on button? It needs a wake-up section in hardware, which can keep working even if other sections are powered off and trigger a power-on in the same way a long press on the power button does. This section is usually associated with a clock, but may not be implemented everywhere.

Have seen the self-power-up feature is only in Blackberry devices so far - haven't seen it in the configuration of any other phone.

Honestly, whenever I have needed an alarm to wake up, I have never taken a chance. I have always kept the phone on and charging.

nokia phones dont need the phone to be kept on if the alarm has to ring.

the alarm will ring even with the phone switched off & then the phone will ask whether the user wants to switch on the phone or keep it switched off.

Logical. I just remember that it didn't work for me (Alcatel, Motorola, Nokia 3650) a couple of times, so I stopped taking chances after that. Didn't miss my flight though !

Even the earlier SE mobile phones (without fancy OS) used to have this feature.

The alarm would ring even if the phone is switched off.

Finally I got my sony ericsson vivaz for 22k with B&W.
The Mobile Phone Thread - Queries, decisions, discussions all here-sonyericssonvivaz.jpg
Its an amazing phone with everything one wants, be it a smart business function or the entertainment part (8 MP cam and HD video 720p 24 fps). Touch screen, hand writing recognition, overall sleek design, weight, battery life, standard head phones, the leather pouch etc. everything is something to be happy about. I find it worth the money, although present trend is getting every function under the sky below 10k.

Best part I like is the high quality display and the sleekness of the body. It can fit into any pocket. Since it hardly weighs anything, I prefer my shirt pocket as it might get squashed in the jean's pocket while sitting (depends how tight your jeans is).

I had a very tough time transfering my contacts from Blackberry Pearl to this. Blackberry had the .ipd back up and vivaz takes .dbk format. After many trials and tests, finally I had to open the SE PC Suite and edit the phonebook contacts by manually entering the book ! Some friends suggested copying phonebook to the SIM then reentering to Vivaz etc. but sadly none of these usual exercises work from a Blackberry. I lost count on what other methods I tried, none worked.

Its a Symbian S60 5th edition software. You can find a detailed review here Sony Ericsson Vivaz Review (Phone Arena Reviews)

Overall I am happy. The wi-fi works like a charm, hardly took 2 mts to configure it with my home router, so I didnt subcribe to any internet services from the operator. May be thats required only when I travel. At present I use facebook, google talk, usual browsing, Worldmate (worldtime, weather, currency exchange), google map, Youtube videos (it downloads and plays very fast in full HD format). May be when the 3G is full swing, I will be able to utilise the 3G functions well.

Although I got not a single response to my quiery I had posted a week back, now you have someone to talk to if you own a Vivaz or plan to buy one.
