Pallavi - the Stars seem to be astronomically priced for that budget; 12K plus; or am I missing something? (pun unintended)

You will get the touch screen champ 3303 at 3.5K odd!!! (no, the decimal is not misplaced)

Hi!

Most 3G phones have a frontal camera for video calling. I am wondering if one can use skype or various messengers for video calls over voip when connected to the net via gprs or wifi using this frontal camera(Note that it would act like a webcam).

I have heard of an app called as Fring which allows that or is there any other app?

Can the learned Guru's please advice regarding the same.
Also I have seen that the Samsung wave 3g Tab can be used for the same but its a tablet anyway and its big to plonk around especially whilst traveling .

Cheers,
Naj

You can use Fring for voice chat on Android. Others (Skype/Gtalk) do not support it yet on Android.

BSD,

You are talking about the higher models of Star. What i chose was the basic model because my mom uses the phone only for calls. No texting, taking pics etc. I am opting for a touch screen because she loves touchscreen phones.

Samsung Star (MRP around 6.3k) quoted is 4.7k and Champ was quoted 3.8k.

Please suggest which to opt for. I have seen Champ being used by some of my colleagues and it looks good. But no idea about Star.

I have used Fring for Video chat in Skype. But that was earlier and now Fring has dropped support for Skype. But still you can use the Fring messenger itself for video chat using front camera.

Whilst my N82 continues to work, I suppose I'm not buying.

If I was to, though: I fancy the Motorola Defy.

Formatting and re-installing the OS

Hey folks,

I have a Motorola Razr2 V8. Of late, I have been facing issues like, one particular folder getting deleted, phone hanging once in a while etc.

I have tried factory restore, delete data etc. but doesn't work.

I got the phone formatted at Redington (Motorola's Authorized Service Centre) but the problems are resurfacing.

Any idea how I can format the phone and re-install the OS? Any other solutions?

Can anybody please suggest if any of indian carriers offer micro sim card used in iPhone 4. If not, then what are the alternatives?

No I dont think any of the service providers offer them yet.
The alternative is a simple micro sim cutter. Or just go to any phone shop and he will do it for you. And you always have micro SIM to SIM trays.

$8.66 - Stainless Steel Micro Sim Card Cutter with Micro Sim Card Adapters for Apple iPad/iPhone 4 - Gadgets
