Any good phones are ok except from the n-series.
Well I was also against touch screens. I went and bought a Nokia 5800 and le me tell you it is a very under-rated phone. It is loaded with features, excellent music features. Decent cam in sun light. And I never felt the need for a physical keyboard. You get used to the touch qwerty keyboard within a day or two. Try it out at any Big box stores - you will be surprised and the latest firmware fixes most of the issues.

Ever since the demise of the Panasonic twins (GD55), I have searched the mobilephonewallah's for a mini/micro stylish phone. The neonode n2 has sparked some memories... any more options on these lines?

Don't know about windows mobile, but I get a feeling its not the best thing to buy a High end windows phone at this point. Within the next 1 year windows mobile 7 should be out and would probably not be an upgrade option to the version 6.

7 is expected to be a class apart as far as interface is concerned, i.e. it'll be comparable to the iphone with the flexibility and expandable-ty of windows.

For a phone that is really functional you should try the Nokia line-up for now.

Lot of emailing - E71
Otherwise - N79 or N82

I've a N82, and its camera is indispensable.

As for gps, all these phone have gps but you'll have to pay for the full navigation packages, no matter what phone you buy.

Was just checking gsm arena and to my surprise, N82 is the second highest rated phone, only next to xperia! Statistics - GSMArena.com

-You can check Asus mobiles. But they do not have flash and camera is not that great.
-Normally Windows mobiles are not that great with battery life. I mean't no match with Nokia business phones.
-You can install third party browsers (like Opera) once you get it. So do not keep it as one of the deciding factors.

If you tell your budget, probably here our friends could help you better.

Hey Shyam, I did check ASUS as my friends may them. But i guess a very medeocre cam put me off bcos i click a lot wen my lil one is around

And ya thanks for reminding i did forget to mention my budget. I wont mind anything real VFM upto 25k max. But it really has to be that good cos i think the Touch Diamond is around 20k (but has no keybd and typing on Ming has made be realise the need for one) and the N82 suggested by SLK is also listed as 19k on univercell.in

So i guess i've got N82 as a good option (N71 is too common around my office and doesn't have a great display), any other good phones with the first four features.. Good Cam (3MP+), GPS, WIFI, Keypad etc...

Thanks for your replies so far guys

Hey SLK, thanks for that info and i agree waiting for '7' would be worth it. I did look up N82 and N85, found them very similar apart from a few features.

thanks for the GPS package clarification cos i always wondered whats the real deal with these phones/packages.

I had mentioned Windows but looking at comments from SLK i think i can wait to get a Windows phones. For now since my MotoMING is almost on the verge of dying on me, Nokia, Win Mobile or any other is ok as far as it fits the first 4 requirements.

Yeah.

Probably explains why it nerver became common!

I don't understand why very few phones have xenon flashes, even in well lit indoors the xenon does wonders. Probably a threat to the portable digital camera industry.

In that case, N82 should work for you.

For GPS, you can first download and check if you like Garmin Mobile xt and buy that + full India maps if it works for you.

Garmin + Maps cost approx 1900 for India version.

I don't think there is any comparable phone at this price point. You can look at E71 as well. It would give you better Keypad, but camera is not as good.

N82 has Carl Zeiss lense and Xenon flash. It works pretty well.

EDIT: Some plus points for E71 from a review:

It seems that the GPS on my E71 doesnt work at all. It takes forever to get a satellite signal lock and the symbol just keeps flashing. Occassionally, it converts from yellow to green, but only partially, and that too, after a good 20-30 mins. when I have already reached my destination.

Can someone please guide me what am I missing here? I launch the default GPS folder in the phone menu and go to Nokia Maps.

The free trial subscription has expired long time back. Do I need to buy maps/software? If yes, which one and at what cost?

Check GPS status from Tools->Connectivity->GPS Data->Satellite Status.

How many satellites do you see there? [This Menu is fron N82, so location could be different]

For Nokia, You can buy

1. MapmyIndia
2. SatNav
3. Gamin XT

I am trying to Garmin and its quite decent. Cost is 1900 Rs. Have mailed them for better maps. Maps it has were updated last time in 2008, Quarter 1. Maps are from Navteq

MapmyIndia is the best in terms of Maps so far. And its the costliest.
