Guys my Laptop HP Pavilion dv6345us refuses to boot yesterday. A.C. power etc seems ok. Did removed Battery and RAM and tried to boot, but hard luck. Did some other test too, like removed battery and hard disk and tried power on, no sound nothing.
Only guess goes to MB gone. Does anyone know any good Repairing shop in NCR. I am planning to go to Nehru Place tomorrow otherwise to get it checked at least.
But take my words, its worst experience with HP. First battery wornout in 14 months now mother Board. Don't feel like its worth buying HP Laptops.

Having said this, I use dell both at home and office and have not faced any problems. So, I would like to believe that the issue my friend is facing is indeed an issue with the Vista Ultimate and not the laptop as such.

I have heard dell does offer good after sales service.
I too think the problem has to be your friends OS.I still prefer to use XP.

3. Yes the RAM can be upgraded later.

4. If you don't need the 15" screen size, then the Studio 14 with the same config is an option for about the same money.
I want a 15" screen size.

How much difference would it make to change the processor?
I don't plan to upgrade the RAM. I feel 3gb would be enough for now.
My budget is somewhere around Rs40-45K.

At Dell site, the customise link gives the following:

Dell Studio 15 Laptop (S540218IN8)
From Rs.42,900.00
Excluding Tax and Delivery

Intel® Core™ 2 Duo Processor T6400 (2GHz/ 800 FSB/ 2MB Cache) [Included in Price]

Intel® Core™ 2 Duo Processor P8600 (2.40GHz/ 1066 FSB/ 3MB Cache) [add Rs.4,919.50]

Intel® Core™ 2 Duo Processor P8700 (2.53GHz/ 1066 FSB/ 3MB Cache) [add Rs.13,774.62]

Intel® Core™ 2 Duo Processor T9400 (2.53GHz/ 1066 FSB/ 6MB Cache) [add Rs.18,147.52]

Intel® Core™ 2 Duo Processor T9550 (2.66GHz/ 1066 FSB/ 6MB Cache) [add Rs.16,944.97]

Intel® Core™ 2 Duo Processor T9600 (2.80GHz/ 1066 FSB/ 6MB Cache) [add Rs.34,436.55]

The next in line processor itself costs 4900+ more and will make it go above your present budget.

its 4900 to change the processor(P8600) and 1600 to change the graphics card(256mb ATI HD4570)!!

you have 3 options:
1)stay with lower version of studio 15(no upgraded processor or graphics) and will cost 44k
2)upgrade just graphics(256mb ATI) for lower version of studio 15 and will cost 45.5k
3)buy the higher version of studio 15(which has upgraded processor and graphics included) and will cost 50k

My heart says to go for the Dell Studio 15 with P8600 and 256mb graphics card. The system costs about Rs.48900/- but my pocket isn't that deep.

If my dad allows me I might get the Dell (its his hard earned money) else I'll need to move on to plan B.

Not always. Sometimes stores give a better deal.

Toshiba laptop sales/service chennai

Hi guys. My Toshiba Satellite laptop is now almost 4 years old. I am not looking for a new laptop as of now, but would like to upgrade the ram on my laptop, and also I need to change the casing (preferably to black) because the monitor hinge on one side has broken (and also cause the casing has taken a lot of beating).
Can someone please guide me to a reliable service center in chennai, who will have the required parts and not quote an extravagant price for it. Also, if anyone has any idea about how much a black colour casing for toshiba laptops cost, please let me know.
Thanks!
Prasana

In delhi we have NP. which is heaven for such stuff.
