Gosh, HappyWheels, you're suspecting THAT much of junk files?!

Well, it could transpire for a computer that has not seen a disc cleaner for a few years!

That kind of very large space usually occurs due to unallocated space on the HDD. The disc utility should give more info about this.

24 hours! Very impressive!

I had two occasions to ask for help.

First time, the phone call was within 24 hours, the physical person came on the 6th day with parts.

Second time, the email came 48 hours later and no phone calls. The replacement battery came on the 10th day. I had to send back the old battery on my own.

Different service in different parts. The service centres for my area is situated 50 and 60 kms away.

this still totals to 36GB out of 58GB used. Still looking for 20+GB. There cant be 20GB of hidden/system files and unformatted/unallocated disk space can there?

I never thought I'd learn so much about hardware on a car forum! Thanks guys!
If I were in your place, I would not bother and get a 256gb straight away. You are just confusing yourself.

Iv been looking at some options for a lappie for my brother.

Dont want consumer line but an entry level business machine as he will be graduating next year.

HP looks like VFM and their 3 year 'care'pack' sounds good.

What about presario? They were running a lot of freebie deals last month.

will try this tomorrow. first I'll try it on my machines. if you guys saw my setup you'd laugh at me. Bass & Trouble (from the ICE section) visited me once and had a smile on his face (that he did not say anything shows that his parents taught him to respect his elders however stupid their actions may seem). Tubes I can understand, Microsoft I cant.

A IBM engineer I met on the NYC subway once told me about this CC cleaner but I worry that free ware is usually buggy and will delete stuff I need.

I know. I just figured I'd use this excuse to learn a thing or to. Guess I was never cut out to be a software engineer.

Funny in my senior year (some eons ago) I actually designed a bit sliced microcomputer (4 slices of 4 bits each running at 10Mhz) using an AMD core (not the 2901) and ALU (not the 29xx series but I will try and find the papers if you guys are really interested) but these processors looked something like the ones shown here

Here is what you do to take a screen shot. i will give you a simplest step. but there are software available for this, taking screen shot.

Just press print screen key and open paint, paste it and crop what you need and save it as jpg (not bmp) image.

^^^ Just curious! how come you are a moderator . its because of your high post count.??

I never gave that a thought but I am sure that was not the reason.

Must be because I look like George Clooney :-)

Unallocated disc space, likewise, will get shown if you go into the disc-management utility.
I tried teh disk management utility and found no unallocated disk space but did find a pagefile.sys that was about 3GB! Still it does not account for 20GB. 20GB is a lot of space (for a guy who learnt to program on a PDP-8).

I've heard that all the prices of all computers & it's components are increasing day-by-day due to rupee devaluation. Is that true ?
