The first one mentioned the MRP as Rs 1892.72 and in the latter the MRP was Rs 4149.20.

nope. The 1892 price is incorrect. Must have a catch to it. 4149 is the right price. As long as sending the battery is concerned, I dont know why then even need it back. They just throw it away. weird.

LOL, I think they're earning themselves some carbon credits here!
Responsibly 'disposed of' and 'recycled' come to mind!

SirAlec, have you bought it within the last three years? Brand new?

Also has it been purchased within India?

They cannot do that as far as I remember the guidelines.

The first price was mentioned as the MRP inclusive of taxes in the sticker for the same type of battery shipped to Dell at Chennai.

I agree that the latter price would be the correct retail price to a customer.

It was specifically mentioned that unless I send it I will be billed for the battery. Though the company should have arranged for the pickup, they did not. Thought it was an expense of Rs 50 to send it on my own (That does not include the multiple STD calls I made to arrange for the pickup), I am still sad that the copany did not do what it promised (its own pickup). I did receive a phone asking me whether I have sent the battery, yesterday evening.

I have invested in one more years' warranty, but it does not cover the battery. I hope my present battery lasts more than the first one.

The above was prompted as I needed service twice in as many months.

Could you please translate your first sentence for me?

I had a Compaq quite some time back. It worked without issues for 2 and a half years before it died on me when I switched it on after a gap of 15 days.

In my recent experiences, an LG had a 'getting hot' complaint. The Acers I have are without trouble evn ones which are 2 years old.

None of them have on site warranties any way.

The Dell is the only machine which has on site warranty and maybe that is why it required on site service!

People around here do expect life time warranty even for the Rs 5 handkerchiefs that we sell.
