try for an AMD Turion machine. Should be same price but is more future proof and flexible.

Depending on the condition of the laptop, I would say 14 from a shop and 11-12 in personal purchase.

12-13k will be good I guess.

considering that its a gamble. as parts like battery, hdd, ram screen of this model will be expenisve if you have any trouble. As its out of warranty.

My bet will be not to go with turin or any AMD based system, as far as lappy are concerned.

I have two of them lying. even company is not able to source its mobo. One is Acer based on ATI mobo and other a HP compaq based on nvidia.

PS: if anybody can source its mobo, it will be of great help.

12-13 shoulde be it. Better still I would suggest you a brand new Netbook from Asus for 22-23K.

PM me the details of the MOBO. Let me see what I can do. Acer is the last company to go to for after sales. It's not AMD's fault. Hp should have them as they are into AMD's big time lately.

Does the Aser Aspire One (latest model) support the PCMCIA card? Or do I have to go with the UISB modem only?

no it does not have PCMCIA.
actually PCMCIA is long gone. After advent of 9xx series intel mobo, PCMCIA has been scrapped for PCI Xpress slot.

Dead Dell battery

Hi devarshi84,

I finally received the replacement on the 6th when I was out of my shop. I got a call from a person asking about whether I received it. I asked him to pickup the old one. He said he will arange for it to be picked up.

On 8th he again called to know about the battery performance. I again reminded him about the pickup and he said he will get back to me. He did not.

Today I called a number of the person who sent the battery. A lady picked up and said the person is in a meeting. When i called an hour later, another lady picked up and asked me the reason I was calling for. I told her about the old battery pickup. She told me to courier it to them. When I asked her at my cost, her answer was: After all it os only the battery!

Since I am bound to send the old battery in 10 days time I have sent it by courier at my expense.

This is in contrast to what I had been told earlier.

nehru place is full of them.

also check out Laptop Originals | One Shop - Unlimited Options

their prices are bit expensive, but you will have the idea of product. Don't buy online and go directly to them.
