Ah, Welcome to the club. I too am facing this problem. I have a Dell inspiron 1501. Have changed battery 3 times- once with warranty twice without warranty. I just replaced the battery in Jan , again im facing the problem. New battery is 6k, my dealer was selling battery to me at 3k which is obviously duplicated one. I realised it only after i faced problems in it and Dell logo was not there. Im confused whether to buy a new laptop or change the battery AGAIN!

it may not be the battery, sometimes motherboard issues cause such trouble.

Samsung N110 Initial Review

guys,

got a samsung n110 at 22200 at Bangalore. Pretty nice babe to handle, i just checked the battery since they were claiming 9 hours and all.

gave me a clear backup of 5.43 hours on my daily office use.
it took another 2.45 hours for recharging completely on the off mode.

windows load time : 48 seconds (without any additional software installed)

My battery was replaced under warranty. The price mentioned was about Rs 5600. Mine is a 9 cell, if I remember correctly.

Hey looking at the complains by DELL, dont you guys think DELL laptops face all kinds of problems which require replacements irrespective if they are covered under warranty or not!

They feel to be more prone to replacements than other laptops!

Like Keyboard, Screen, harddisk, motherboard, battery, etc....?

Its just plain luck. As dell also used most common oems that other manufacturer uses. like hitachi hdd, panasonic battery, hldt or optrac dvdr, intel cpu. etc.

atleast they provide long term support for their products. unlike Hp and toshiba, which are not willing to provide parts even if people are ready to pay.

But I have 3 acers working in my office for close to 11 hours everyday, the oldest now more than two years. They never pleaded for attention.

My Dell is 15 months old. It needed attention for overheating when it was 8 months old and the battery was changed under warranty when it was 10. It does sit outside the office area with me in the sales section of the shop.

It particularly hates my DOS inventory program. As working on that it increases the temperature by close to 20 degrees or more compared to the 5 to 6 degrees in the Acers in similar locations.

I agree to SirAlec in few terms, but we all know OEMs manufacture as per consumer. Im sure there would be a slight difference when HITACHI makes it for ACER or DELL.

Also if you have 2 systems one from ACER and one from DELL with exact same config, still they will have performance difference! Why is that when everything inside is same!

From user reviews here and few of my friends, I think DELL are a marginally costlier than ACER & HPs, but we buy for Brand Name and after sales service.

However DELL are prone to issues even in their 1st year, but they silently come home and replace things. We are happy as its covered under warrantly, but other brands have hardly any issues within 1st year.

Question is does DELL use lesser quality things and make it up replaceing them under warranty??
