Ok so ginger break too refused to root the optimus - now what ?

NC I did it on mine and I was on 2.2.2, worked flawlessly. Did you install a terminal emulator and check.

I followed the process to the T and got CM 7 milk os and am on 6.4.2. Good riddance of the LG Crap. Only thing i miss is the Bluetooth headset.

I was also not sure if it was rooted when it rebooted, only when i installed the terminal emulator was I convinced.

My p500 came with 2.2.1, I flashed 2.2.2 which is available from xda links. Then ran ginger break (version, don't remember). After rooting, phone rebooted.
And once rooted you can see a super user app in the app drawer. Thats the confirmation.

Yes, but on your desktop. Not in your app-drawer.

You could then use something like launcher pro, which would then let you manually hide all the games in your app drawer.

Am using Go-launcher EX( free from market). You can group apps into folder in app-drawer, you can rearrange order of the apps- like everything that you can do in IOS 4. Plus , you can kill background apps right from app drawer. Also you can Install themes .

I yesterday got Samsung Galaxy Ace.
Will try out all the apps listed here. Is Angry birds a free game?

okay! i haven't playing angry birds in phone after installing it in PC. I downloaded 2.3.4 it from link in XDA forum (however my phone isn't routed). You can download OTA update here. For installation refer this link. In India there is no automatic push! hence one needs to download and apply the patch!

thanks man, did the update on Saturday itself, late here to reply. However it did not let direct update . I had to go from 2.3.2 to 2.3.3 to 2.3.4.

However, the default font of my reply mails is courier new, size - 10 which looks pretty small when viewed from a PC. Im looking for the more standard ones, however there is no option to change it from the phone. Is there an application that is available which will help me with this?

Thanks in advance.

Bala, have you tried this: While the email app is open, press the Menu key > More > Text Size

There is a setting in the mail client for fonts: Small, Medium, Large.

I am using the Galaxy Ace and Android has made me a bit cagey. They are collecting too much of personal information. Adding google account is very easy. And I easily added two accounts. But deleting an account is a different story. It said that its related to phone settings and I have to restore the phone to factory defaults to get rid of that account.

Or am I missing something?

My Epic 4G came back with 2.2.1. I installed some stuff, incl One Key Root (somehow z4root did not take 'root'). It has installed and rooted the phone but wants to download its toolbox. Then goes to sleep.

I found Screenshot beautiful but needs root permission. Captures images on a shake.

Yes, your interpretation is indeed correct.

FYI enough info's already been collected in regular email use. If privacy is what you seek, run a private mailserver & encrypt with PGP :)
