As you are a existing One Plus user, what is stopping you from picking up the new one?

The Android phones you have listed and pretty much top drawer models. You can't go wrong with any of them.

As for Apple, I see little benefit in picking up the new 16. Get a higher storage spec (if you really need it) model of the 15. It will do 99% of what the 16 can do and you'll save some Apple tax in the process.

Hi Sandeep,
Well, S25 Ultra will be launching in Jan 2025, significant improvements are expected, but if I prefer Z Flip 6 I don't know how delicate the screen is, do I need to baby it? As I like both these phones, now at similar price tags, don't know what to do.

No problem with the phone as it's clear based on the money I want to spend. Only thing bugging me is my past experience with apple service centre, they refused a simple battery replacement for iPhone SE as it was a 5 yr old device.

Thank you.

Re: Android Thread: Phones / Apps / Mods

Hi

I am looking to replace my Google Pixel 4a as the battery is swollen and needs to be replaced. Want to continue with pixel series of phones and considering Pixel 8 or 9.

Considering that both phones will get updates for up to 7 years, do you all think it is worth spending ~20000/- extra for Pixel 9. For this money I get additional 128 GB storage, 4 GB Ram and Tensor G4 processor.

My usage is limited to phone calls, Google Docs, Whatsapp, Spotify and occasional photos

4. Wait for S25 Ultra
Well, the S25 Ultra will also be pretty huge I suppose, so there's no point in waiting.

If I was in the market looking for a compact flagship, I would seriously consider the Xiaomi 14. For less than 50k, that phone is quite a steal for what it offers.

I would recommend always going with the latest. And Pixel 9 looks and feel like proper flagship, compared to previous iterations from Google.

Just an update. Brought Pixel 8 128 GB. It was available at Rs 37000/- in the BBS on Flipkart. An additional discount of Rs 1500/- on HDFC cedit card brought the price down to 35500/-. This is a good price for a phone launched just a year ago.

Received the phone three days back. Looks good, very fast compared to Pixel 4a. Only issue I had was my old Airtel 4G sim did not work with this phone. Had to change the sim. Opted for 5G esim and was installed and working with in two hours of submitting the request ti Airtel.

Re: Android Thread: Phones / Apps / Mods

Had to retire my five year old OnePlus 7 (which still works flawlessly BTW) and was in the market for a phone under 30,000 which could live up to the performance of it's predecessor. After so much research pulled the trigger on Realme GT 6T (8GB, 256GB) during the Amazon sale. Got the phone for under 26,000 which is thought was a great deal. Setup the phone as per my requirements and debloated all the junk applications on day one itself. After a week of usage, boy am I impressed or what?

The display is absolutely stellar and the performance is top notch. I find the debloated UI of Realme as good as the original Oxygen OS in the old OnePlus phones. The charging is superfast and the battery easily lasts me a whole day when charged to 80%. The only gripe I find is that the speaker volume is not at par with my old phone. The camera is pretty good too for casual usage. The curved screen does look premium but I really wish it had a flat screen. The back panel design is really ugly as per me, but can easily be covered up by a decent case. My colleagues with flagships are seriously drooling over this budget gem of mine

Attaching a couple of pics.

I missed seeing this post. My apologies.

I did try hard reset, but the improvement was marginal. Original Rom was much smoother. Presently in Android 9.

Received the Android 15 update today on my Pixel 7 Pro.
Nothing major except for Private space, Theft detection lock & few other minor features.

As per Android Authority, Pixels now have option to stop the battery charging at 80% after getting the Android 15 update along with Pixel Feature Drop. But I don't see that option in my Pixel. Did you find that in yours?

Re: Android Thread: Phones / Apps / Mods

Moto, Android 14 has "Overcharge Protection" in the battery settings. There's also "Optimised Charging" option.

But it might be something actually really new!

Optimized charging is already available there in the Pixels but there is no option to restrict the charging to 80% like many laptops or mobiles already have since long time.

With the update of Android 15, this 80% option is supposed to come to Pixels but I haven't yet found it anywhere despite completing the update.

Theft Detection Lock is available for devices running Android 10 & above!

Got it on my Android 14 CMF Phone (1), and another Android 14 OnePlus 10R

The CMF got this option called Remote Lock which the OnePlus didn't have for some reason!

Re: Android Thread: Phones / Apps / Mods

Question to Pixel users who updated to Android 15. Have you been able to install any bank apps or UPI app inside the Private Space? I tried, but the authentication sms for sim binding is not getting sent. Any workaround?
