Best is to go online via laptop/PC and ask them. They will direct you to the nearest service centre.

Google does not have any service centre in South India. In fact IIRC, the only service centre is in Mumbai. The Pixel 5a is not a model released in India if I am correct. So not sure if you will even get support from the Authorised service centre in Mumbai. Usually the process is to raise a request online, they will arrange for the phone to be shipped to them, they will check and provide you the estimate for repairs. If you are fine with it, the phone will be fixed and shipped back to you.

Since this is not a model released in India, it will not have a warranty claimable here. Better to check with renowned places that fix phones well & get it done in your presence. My 2$!

Re: Android Thread: Phones / Apps / Mods

Just for the record.

Got Android 13.0 on my samsung S21 FE 5 G. It is One UI 5.0. The install process drained the battery badly. Per consumption is a tad more. Anyway, allowed the battery to drain completely yesterday. And did av full charge. Will do the same tonight. Let's see.

Since a full reset was not done not much change on the interface.

Feel the is a reduction in camera heating. Have not used the camera much anyway after buying this phone.

Anybody using Pixel 6/6a/7/7pro here? is it supporting Airtel 5G/Jio 5G after the December feature drop earlier today? Google had mentioned that they will update the software with December feature drop. Thanks

Re: Android Thread: Phones / Apps / Mods

Hi guys, what phone do you recommend for kids?
I need a phone for my daughter (10 yo) basically to have connectivity when we are not at home and to get whatsapp group notifications for some of her subjects/classes.
Ideally, I'd have wanted a feature phone, but found none support whatsapp.

One possible option you can try is installing apps like BeforeLauncher or LessPhone. They can allow you to configure minimal 3-4 apps which you want to allow, and block others, turning smart phone into dumb phone.

There is a better option from Google itself. Install Google family link on kids device and yours. Your device will be controlling what apps to install on the kids device, what time you can allow device to remain unlocked, bedtime, location tracking etc. I use it, works seamless.

Thank you for informing me about Google family link. It is exactly what I needed!

Re: Android Thread: Phones / Apps / Mods

It has been around 10 days since the power button on wife's S10 lite crumbled away. So when battery drained out, and the phone shut down, the usual toothpicks and pins did not help. So, on a fine Sunday evening, the first day of 2023 to boot, after dinner, we find ourselves in search of a service shop, find a helpful guy in a hole-in-the-wall shop at Marine drive, who thankfully managed to power up the phone. "Come tomorrow and will fix the power button" he says. But no way wife can spare the two to four hours without a phone. She does about 6-7 hours on official calls a day.

Turning around, I realise the car is parked in front of a Samsung showroom. And there are just two people inside, looking bored. So shocked my wife and kids taking them inside.

Inside, I say "A 53 or 73, 256 GB version", expecting a "only 128 version available, saar" answer.

I had opened Amazon, Flipkart and Neu apps and search results and prices were on the screen.

Around one and a half hours later, with the data ported on to the new A53, 256 Gb version, and a 25 W charger included, I'm poorer by ₹ 37,800.

Was quoted ₹ 41k odd for the 256 Gb A73. Decided against it because the larger screen meant (hopefully) more battery drain and a phone does not survive beyond 18 -24 months with biwi anyway.

Was fully prepared to walk out if was quoted higher prices, but the guy at the counter was quite blunt - "this is cheaper the online prices" which indeed it was.

As an aside, saw a lungi clad 60 year old in "Hawai chappals" hand over a thick wad of notes to buy a touch screen. He himself was using an old style button phone. Looked like some kind of messenger.

So, are brick and mortar stores winning the price east? Or are online prices artificially hacked up?

This has been almost always the case that physical stores are cheaper than online. Three years back I bought Samsung A70 & A50s from nearby stores and both times I got it cheaper by 2 to 3 thousand rupees than online.
As I do not have any interest in "schemes" or "offers" that these online portals offer on using credit card etc , I buy from nearby stores using either cash or netbanking.
Btw I also went to buy A73 256gb or S21 Fe for my wife on 1st Jan and shopkeeper told me that till 31st Dec he was selling these models cheaper and advised me to wait for a few days. So I will buy may be by republic day.

Hi,

Looking for reviews on Pixel-7. Any first hand reviews of the phone and seller?
Also, the phone is available on Flipkart for 59k, but for 52k on amazon, Not sure why such a big gap here.

I am using the Pixel 7 Pro and it is hands down the best Android experience I've had in the past few years. The Pixel 6 was extremely buggy last year but I am happy to report that my experience with the Pixel 7 Pro has been largely bug-free(except for a mishap with Android Auto once where it just crashed Google Maps in the middle of navigation).
As for the pricing, the units sold on Amazon are imported from the US/Japan while Flipkart sells Indian units. Would recommend you go with Flipkart for obvious reasons. The Pixel 7 should get a significant discount in the upcoming Flipkart sale which should further sweeten the deal.

Re: Android Thread: Phones / Apps / Mods

Can any Samsung galaxy A53 5G user kindly confirm how the incall volume through earpiece is? Can any body standing near over hear the conversation?

It is happening on my wife's phone, and it is not on speaker mode.

I have a S21FE 5G and its the same on my device. Sometimes even putting on speaker is not required to hear the call. Decreasing in-call volume using settings is the only solution.

P.S. - Some enhancement has been done for in-call experience in one ui 5 on the A series devices where the surrounding noise is blocked. I do not remember the name of the feature but its not in my device. Did you try it and how is it?
