Hi manson and sayyam.gaur58,

My usage of this phone is quite minimal with basic tasks like browsing & utilizing important apps only. No games & minimal camera/video recording usage. I bought this phone mainly for my own software testing purposes.

Even for the minimum usage like these, the battery lasts only a day. I hope this improves to at least 1.5 days. Since its the initial days, I guess the battery software optimization is in the works by studying my usage behavior & the battery may last more than the current usage. But if your usage is heavy, then, it'll only last either a day or less than a day which will require 2 charges.

It takes 1 hour:30 minutes to fully charge from 0 to 100% & around 1 hour to charge from 20% to 100%.

Only mild heating issue is observed for these tasks which is not a problem, IMO. But with games & other heavy tasks, this may heat up just like other phones(?).

Stock Android UI is fluid & fast. I've updated to Android 13 & Security update is of September 2022.

Camera is alright for my usage. Neither bad nor the best. Objects get blurred on zoom. On dark colored objects, I'm seeing grainy particles moving here & there rapidly. Though after clicking the picture, quality is good. I don't know whether is this normal or is my phone defective. I'm sure Pixel 6, 6 Pro & 7 series have much superior camera. If budget is not an issue, I'll suggest you to go for about-to-launch Pixel 7 series; of course after initial reviews.

I'm yet to discover any software bugs partly due to minimal usage.
Apologies due to late reply & minimal usage of this phone due to which this short & basic review may not be of that much help to make a decision.

Re: Android Thread: Phones / Apps / Mods

Guys I had bought One Plus Nord 2 5G hoping that it is a 5G enabled phone and really never checked it. However, to my surprise when I went to check for the 5G settings really did not get any.

Does anyone who owns 1+N2 5G confirm if he/she has been able to enable 5G ??

It will receive a firmware update to enable 5G.

I have one, it is used by my son. Will check and post later. I recall reading that the phone will need a firmware update to enable 5G. Airtel has included this phone in the list of handsets that will work with is 6G. Jio publicity States that "it is working with handset makers to enable 5 G on the handsets". So it is a "will work with firmware update" handset.

Thank you for this. At 28k right now, it seems like a no nonsense phone.

This is good to know and glad you are happy with the S21 FE.

I went for the S20 FE because I could not trust the Exynos chipset on the S21 FE enough.

For the price it's available now, the S21 FE appears to be a no brainer.

Seems to be an issue with many Samsung phones. How many bhpians have faced this?

This is really making me nervous as I use an S20 FE that is 5 months old and my parents use an year old A52s.

Guess I need to keep monitoring the back of both these phones regularly now to detect any battery swelling.

Incredible that after paying through our noses, we need to put up with such lack of quality.

The issue reported is in minority when compared to the amount of Samsung phones being used out in the world and that too for very specific conditions. It's mostly occurring with tech reviewers who usually store the phones for extended period of time (1yr+) without charging them. When the battery goes below zero percent while in storage some reaction in happening which is causing it to swell up that too when phone is stored in warmer/hotter conditions.

For us regular folks who use the phone on a day-to-day basis like it's intended to be, there is no such issue. Even if you want to store the phone for longer periods you just have to maintain enough charge so that the battery doesn't go completely dry.

So if I buy a new phone a couple of years down the line and want to keep my current Samsung as a backup (in which case I won't charge it frequently), then that would be a bad idea.

Yes, knowing about this issue. The best thing would be to sell your old (Samsung) phone if you aren't going to be using it for a long time. Of-course Samsung needs to come up with a solution for it's future phones as this issue is not acceptable even if it's a edge case scenario. This seems to be happening to phones that were released within past few years only. My initial Samsung phone was stored for years together without being charged and it never had any such issue, but that was like 12+ years back when smartphones weren't that common. I am referring to models like the F480, it had the old TouchWiz UI IIRC.

Yes, not a good idea to keep a Samsung phone if its going to be lying around unused for a long time. However, there's nothing to worry if you're using one regularly.

He repeatedly mentions in the video that the phones were sitting idle after the initial testing, and he only used it later for comparison videos with the latest gen phones.

I recently moved to a S21FE after having the Note 8 for 4+ yrs. There's not the slightest bulge as it was used daily. I planned to keep it as a backup, but after this video I'll probably need to figure out something else.

Re: Android Thread: Phones / Apps / Mods

But, why only Samsung? Remember the infamous Note 7 - the only phone to have been officially banned from air travel.

Meanwhile more reports on Samsung battery issues are emerging

I am also using S21FE and in daily use its perfect also there is a setting
* Settings
* Battery and device care
* Battery - More battery settings - Protect battery
I guess enabling this will give you peace of mind .
