Only if the bootloader is unlocked and the USB debugging is turned on in the developer mode.

And, I think, in recent Android versions, even unlocking the bootloader clears the data?

Thanks, then I think it amounts, for most people to no back door.

The M35 is bulky and HEAVY at 222g (even compared to the Redmi 13 at 205g)! The weight might be a consideration for senior citizens.

Re: Android Thread: Phones / Apps / Mods

NFC never works on my Moto Edge 40. Is anyone else facing this?

PS: I am using a Jio esim on it, with the first sim slot being empty.

Re: Android Thread: Phones / Apps / Mods

I am presently using a pixel 6 as my primary phone and an iPhone 14 Pro as my secondary phone. Looking to replace the pixel with either Samsung S23 ultra or Oneplus 12 or Xiaomi 14 Ultra or the Vivo X100 pro. This would be the primary phone with the main requirements of clean and stable UI, good battery life, preferably no bloatware and good camera.

Looking forward to your suggestions and recommendations.

Out of all these, the Vivo will have the best camera, but then Vivo is not exactly known for clean UI. Same with Xiaomi, you won't get clean UI.

Samsung S23 Ultra will be the best for you. The Oneplus 12 would also be excellent - a very decent for the price it's available at currently.

Why not get the S24 Ultra though?

From most of the reviews, it appears that there is not much difference between the S23U and the S24U. Plus, the S23U comes with a snapdragon processor.

S24U also comes with Snapdragon processor. Only the base S24 and S24+ get Exynos chips. S24U also has a longer support period of 7 years compared to S23U, but yes not much of a noticeable difference over S23U in most day to day scenarios.

Re: Android Thread: Phones / Apps / Mods

Folks, Need your suggestions here please.

Looking for a phone for my wife.

Budget : 15 -20K max

Use Case : Social media browsing and phone calls, Occasionally clicking pics

Battery : Need at least a days battery back up

Current Phone : Redmi 9 Power

She is little careless when it comes to babysitting the phone and phone will be thrown around. Hence need a strong phone!

She does not like Redmi, Samsung and Oppo, Vivo phones as she has used them in the past. For a brief period she used One Plus Nord CE and she dropped the phone while walking resulting in phone going blank! One plus service centre said it would cost around 8K for the repair and she does not want to spend so much for the repair. Hence using the old phone again.

What are her options in the above budget?

Get the CMF by Nothing Phone 1. Fits all your requirements! 1 and ½ day battery life for my usage, which includes doom scrolling for hours and gaming, while Bluetooth is on and connected to my watch!! To sum up, screen on time is usually around 6-8 hours and still lasts me a day and ½! Camera, for the price is good enough, gets the job done.

Also, you mentioned that she might throw the phone around, to fix that, this phone has removable back, so even if the back gets damaged by any chance, replacement back covers are available and it's a really easy process to replace them!

Speaking from the seventy-plus camp, I don't see that age has too much to do with it. Perhaps we are less likely to be gamers, but then, I never was. And I had I been, I doubt that turning 70 would have stopped me!

Our hearing may be less, but this is very individual. My hearing has been poor for a long time, and a phone that I can hear is helpful. Our sight may be less, but then we will be using corrective glasses, and those with really poor vision will be using stuff like giant type that they can read. the older generation gets stereotyped as being less technical, but it was our parents' generation that paved the way for the existence of the computers and mobiles we use today.

So, speaking as an oldie, I think you youngsters need to be more specific about any personal requirements, rather than simply mentioning an age.

By the way, repeating something I posted earlier: if the person you are buying for uses hearing aids that are capable of streaming and/or being used in calls, it is necessary to check specific-model compatibility with the specific hearing aid. This is something I learnt the hard way . I have a nice phone and rather expensive hearing aids, and they do not work together.

From the given two choices, I would recommend the Moto G64 as it has a cleaner UI compared to Realme UI. Additionally, the chances of encountering bloatware are lower.

I would also suggest looking at the Samsung M35 series, as it is more recent and has a larger 6000mAh battery. The only downside is that it is a bit bulky, so I suggest you visit a store and check it out for yourself.

For tough usage nothing beats this...

But then one look at the price and

So, go ahead and check out Nokia G42 5G....you can choose to go for 6/8gb versions in ur budget. The Nokia's have a very good build.
