I am now looking for a new phone for her. She has asked me to not spend more than 30k but as her 40th birthday is three months away, I want to buy her something decent. Should ideally be a Oneplus because her last three phones were Oneplus so she's used to that interface. Waiting is an option too if something exciting is coming up, I will just ask her to use a backup phone for the time being.

Major requirements are good call quality (as she spends a lot of time in office calls), good display, fast charging and decent camera.

Suggestions would be really helpful.
If it is the OnePlus you are looking for then I would recommend you wait for the OnePlus Nord 5 expected to launch in May 2025, it should ideally be an improved Nord 4 and the Nord 4 is an excellent device.

If not, then as an immediate purchase the Nord 4 seems to be the best option under 30k, at 32k with a 4k bank discount, effectively 28k for the 12GB RAM/256GB Storage variant, it seems to be the best device under 30k currently with excellent SD 7+ Gen 3 processor, all-metal build, good cameras, fast charging, good display, 5500 mah battery with good battery life, moreover call quality and speakers are excellent too. Moreover, with 4 major Android upgrades (it launched with Android 14) and 6 years of security updates, the phone will stay on the latest software for much longer.

Otherwise, the next option from OnePlus is the 13R which costs Rs.42,998 and comes with a 3k bank discount offer, so an effective price of Rs39.998 for the 12GB RAM/256GB storage variant, it is course a much better phone than the Nord 4, moreover, it is brand new 2025 model, comes with an SD 8 Gen 3 offering excellent performance, long battery life from the 6000 mAh battery, good camera, fast charging, 4 android updates and 6-year security updates (it launches with Android 15) and very loud speakers.

If you are willing to spend over 50k, then I would vouch for OnePlus sister concerns' phones the iQOO 13 5G and the Realme GT7 Pro as they both come in at Rs,54,998 with coupons, discounts etc bringing the price closer to 50k. If you are going all out, the OnePlus 13 costs 65k, but it is a bit too pricey for what it offers.

So it comes down to budget and ideally, you won't go wrong with any of these.

Discovered something new today.

Motorola's 68W charger supports the 25W "Super Fast Charging" on Samsung phones.

And found out yesterday, that the Samsung 25W charger actually charges the Motorola phones quicker. Specifically speaking about Moto Edge 50 Neo.

If you have a Moto Edge 50 Neo, how's is it holding up for you? Can you please share a short review?

You can use any charger for any phone or tablet or laptop (newer ones)

- 100W charger will charge a 25W phone, at the phone's max supported power (25W)
- 25W charger will charge a 65W laptop, at the charger's max supported power (25W)

If you have 68W charger now, it is like 'Lord of the Chargers'. It is one charger to rule them all.

Re: Android Thread: Phones / Apps / Mods

It is not just the wattage of the charger which matters. We also need to compare the charging technologies supported by the charger and the device.

A charger-device combination will give best charging performance only when it supports compatible charging technologies such as QC/PD.

This point is important because some OEMs (such as OnePlus) are using proprietary charging technologies. So a OnePlus phone will charge at the advertised speed only when the supplied charger is used. Also, a 100 watt OnePlus charger will not charge other brand phones at the advertised speed.

Not quite true. I tried charging the same Samsung phone with an 80W Oneplus charger. The estimated charging time displayed on the screen was 2 hours plus, while with the 68W Moto charger it was like 75 minutes. Quite a big difference there.

Yes, This is true. There is some other charging standard that influences the charging speed at least in Samsungs. While travelling, I only carry a 70W laptop charger and use it with everything. But the charging speed of my S23U is lower than when I use it with the Samsung original 25W charger that came with it.

I'd say hold on for a couple of weeks and buy the Moto Edge 60 Fusion. Why do you want to buy an old phone?

Re: Android Thread: Phones / Apps / Mods

Since there is not much media coverage for this phone - Just putting it out there. The Oppo Find X8 Pro 16GB/ 512GB - 1L MRP. Find X8 Pro
I am very critical when it comes to phones and shifter to the X8 Pro 3 months ago, from a S23 Ultra. And i must say, apart form the front camera being average, the phone is exceptional in every way and a true flagship. The only phones i can think, that can come close to the Find X8 Pro are the S25U and the Vivo X200 Pro. Think of it like a Oneplus 13 'Ultra'. I have spent weeks when i chose this phone over the competition and i am very impressed.

I picked up this phone as a temporary replacement after breaking my Fold 4, but oh man, I’m absolutely loving it! Whether it’s the compact size—refreshing after years of using larger devices—or the impressive feature set, including wireless charging and NFC, it’s been a pleasant surprise.

That said, if you’re an intensive gamer, this might not be the best choice. The cameras are surprisingly good, though the default app can be sluggish, and sometimes the image processing goes a bit overboard. Patience is key, but there are workarounds.

On the software side, it’s already on Android 15 and promises five years of updates, with bi-monthly security patches that have been consistent since I got it in December.

In short—if you're looking for a feature-packed, value-for-money phone for moderate usage, this is a solid pick! At least in the ₹20K range, I couldn’t find a better option.

I had placed an order for the Edge 50 Neo but your post made me cancel and wait for the 60 series.

Today I was checking and find Samsung A35 is available for 23.5k. Other option is A26 for 23k. Now it makes me wonder if I should wait a week for the new Moto launch or choose the Samsung.

Would be a gift for my ma whose birthday is today. She is using a MI A1 till date. Need is a simple, stable, trouble free phone with a good camera.

Re: Android Thread: Phones / Apps / Mods

Looking to buy a phone for my wife, budget is around 25k. (Her current phone is a Samsung mid range M31 Prime and it has served her well for 4 plus years despite the rough usage)

Main requirements are - good brand value and decent UI, good cameras, memory card support is mandatory.

I have shortlisted OnePlus Nord CE4 and Samsung A35. Both seem evenly matched, but I seem to be leaning towards Samsung A35 for the glass back design, IP67 rating and support for more 5G bands. Also, I prefer 25W PD charging in the Samsung phone over the 100W proprietary one in OnePlus.

Which other phone can be considered in this price range ?

I personally won't buy a Samsung/Apple/Pixel unless they get going on the charging speed front.

The last Samsung I used was an S20 FE and it's 15w charging (Samsung has the audacity to call it "Fast Charging") really tested my patience.

PS: Wish a very happy birthday to your mom.

The Edge 60 Fusion is launching soon and looks like a suitable device for your use case.

Considering you require a Memory card slot, the choices are quite few, and you have mentioned the best choices too, I would personally prefer the OnePlus, but since you are used to Samsung, the A35 is a brilliant device in its own right and should hold up well too.

Now comparing them side to side, the OnePlus gets a better processor, faster charging, UFS 3.1 storage, more battery life and is cheaper than the Samsung, However, the Samsung gets 4 years of Android updates and 5 years of security updates as against just 2 and 3 respectively on the OnePlus.

However, the A35 feels better built with better ingress protection and has a better in-hand feel, unlike the plasticky nature of the Nord CE 4.

Moreover, cameras are also better on the Samsung, so overall, despite the slightly better processor and faster charging, the OnePlus doesn't excel on any other front, whereas the Samsung wins you over with better quality, more updates and better camera too.

So all things considered the Samsung should be your ideal choice.
