Okay I officialy a part of the group now.The good thing is that this map is accurate than Garmin and Nokia maps. I havent tried the step by step navigation yet.
The downside that I saw is that within 30 min of using Waze the battery lost 30% of its juice. I checked this and confirmed with my friends E71 too. If I use Nokia Maps the battery consumption for a 30 min drive will be not more than 7-10%.

This app to be used in the car with car charger.

Great app when travelling in group of cars and want to co-ordinate to know where fellow cars are and message each others for stopping/etc. Just create a new group and get a days GPRS ON!

joined the group, my id is same as here. Yes, this seems to be battery hungry but otherwise a great useful app. Not much worried about the battery as I'll be using with the car charger. But gonna need 3G sooner to use it properly. Going to use it a lot more I guess.

Today i made my phone display brightness low and switched from 3G to 2G and turned off all additional positioning methods only the internal gps enabled and my phone was still having over 70% charge after 3 hours of driving and it did not get very hot too

The app is quite sluggish in my nokia 5230 when zooming in or out and takes a while to respond when i touch the screen, but works perfectly on N95 8gb

Everything sounds good and I too installed it on my phone. Yet to check its potential in real-time driving. If muggers are tech-savy, days are not far where they will work as a group and give instant guidelines to lead you to an isolated place to rip you off So be careful when you are visible in the map !

I too am all ready for Wazing! Albeit I am the only Pune T-Bhpian here! Would love to see more from Pune joining there. But as an after thought, there aren't too many options as alternate routes for Puneites, like it or not one has to rot in the Jams :P

Waze doesnt work on my E63. Thought it was due to GPRS speed. Tried on my home Wifi, yet screen is blank.

Press "Start" and scroll down to the end. You'll find it there.

Couple of tips to safe battery:

1) Disable 3D mapping and select 2D maps, its faster
2) Disable alerts which aren't required like Traffic alert, etc
3) Disable auto zooming wrt speed, that too saves battery

I use point 1) from this. 2D is better. Secondly, its hard for me to keep looking at my phone while driving. Nor is it safe. I keep the voice volume up so I can hear the bot telling me where to turn and stuff. Otherwise I only look at my phone when someone pings, or leaves a report.

Can I urge all T-BHP members to drive safe and not get too addicted to Waze while driving. Just a friendly heads up from your fellow T-BHP member

AFAIK,E63 doesnot have an inbuilt GPS,hence you cannot use it,you can purchase a separate GPS reciever for it.

+1 to it

If someone is travelling as fellow passenger in car/bus/auto/etc you can actively use the app, else please use it primarily for navigation and receiving alerts.
