I would suggest a 1GB iPod shuffle ($129). Can't beat an iPod for build / sound quality and sheer "coolness" factor :-) Creative also has some pretty impressive players out there. The ZEN series is pretty good. You might also want to push your budget a little higher and go for the 2GB iPod nano (US $199).

Cheers

yh iPod is the zing thing these days with Nano just hitting the floor

which bulids upon the basic iPOd shuffle as having 2GB/4GB with LCD display

and mre than 10,000 songs storage capacity also u cIt holds up to three days’ worth of

music. It plays for up to 14 hours between battery charges.(1) It displays the color album

art for the song you’re listening to right now. It carries your photos, podcasts and

audiobooksan store more than 1000 videos. but i belive u should opt for a

mp3 itunes mobile which has a built in mp3...

would recommend ipod.

between, me and my bro's, we have all models. 3g 20, 4g 20, video 60, mini and nano.

i guess there are equally good products out there (i heard toshiba's new gigabeat is superb). But look at the range of accessories available for the ipod, and its difficult to not choose the ipod over others.

if u cant afford one now, save up and buy later.

I bought a Creative Zen 30GB about 3 years back when the iPod was launched (it was more VFM then)... and can vouch for its extraordinary voice quality over iPod.

But beware of a trap! When your battery goes dead someday in future, you may have to throw away your player too!! Recently when mine (Creative Zen) could no longer recharge, I searched high and low for a new battery and finally ended at Creative's service centre at Jurong, Singapore only to be told that the battery was not in stock and not easily available. On relating this to my colleague who has an iPod, he told me that his case is no different.

This appears to be common marketing ploy since the battery for my 2˝ year old Sony Ericsson T68i is also "no longer available"...
