The video one definately wont be within his budget. There is absolutely no point in buying the shuffle as there is no display and you cannot see the song you are playing.

iPod rules

i would definitely suggest the iPod. If you prefer ease of use, then go for the shuffle, the rest are for more storage and has all the fancy stuff.
I have worked for apple and also own the shuffle. If you want reliablity, ipod has no competition.

iPod is the "thing" these days
but in your budget I doubt whether you will even get 512MB shuffle

you might want ot keep your choices limited at 256MB

if you are comfortable carrying CD-man, at your budget I would recoment CD-man

1st of all thanks brothers a lot for such a gr8 and fast responce
i have to sellect one player which my bros will get from US ( these players are quite cheap outside india)
he sayz i pod shuffle is around 4.5K there in US

adya33 i definately am over those cd player disc man and cesste walkmans. they are real ugly and spaceless.

adit1329 ya i pod is a rugged mp3 player. i can get shuffle for 4.5K, But u c i pod does not offer me a display within my price range of less than 6K

iceman91 i wonder why people watch video on a 1or 2 inch screen.you see those 1-2 inch screen only meant for 3gp, mms etc. i love to c video only on my pc or TV

binz thanks a lot i'll go will check that site out.

Why limit yourself to these three brands?
http://www.reviewcentre.com/fi18-price-2.html
50-100 pounds works to 4000-8000rs approx. US prices are 30-50% less.
If you want to search for 1GB players, also you can do it here
http://www.reviewcentre.com/products18.html

As for hard drive based players most of them are shock resistant enough for notmal applications like running/occasional drop.
Infact gmini player had a bug which would cause it to hang. The only thing to do was either to let the batteries drain completely(many hours in hang) or hit the backside against a semi hard surface like your hand

I am also planning to buy mp3 player and almost decided on iPOD video and Creative PMP. But I finally decided to buy couple of 1 GB SD cards and use them in my PocketPC. I can listen music and podcasts, watch videos, read eBooks etc in one device. I have a nice head phones from Koss.

Later I will buy a PocketPC phone and still i can use mny SD cards.

I got a creative muvo 256mb player. Use it mainly in the gym. Got a flash based player mainly because i wanted to use it in the gym. It stores around 40 plus songs for me and is pretty good too.

If you want a VFM buy then check out for some deals on creative HDD player from US. I saw a 20GB creative zen whatever for around 9k bucks.

how much did your 256Mb muvo cost, its quite cheap i think but does'nt look that great, it has many other things like voice recorder FM
do tell me how does it sound etc. ......???

uptill now i like the SONY NWE107 because
1) it uses AAA battries and can play 70hrs. per AAA cell, carry as many cell as u want, u ned not rechagre it from usb port each time
2) it had a LCD display, its circular and looks gr8
3) its cheaper than ipods but not cheaper than creative muvo, 107 is for 130$
4) its also avail in showrooms in india, so there will be less problems latter.
5) the onlt problem is that sony fm transmiiter is very bulky and needs a heavy 12 volt supply

The muvo uses a AAA battery too. With a duracell in it it lasts for around a month for me which would be like 30-35 hours on a average.

Its got FM and voice recorder. Additionally you can hook it up to any music source and record it and encode it to mp3 format.

BTW my player is pink looks cute IMHO.

Sound quality is ok but i wouldnt know because i have not listened to other players. I use a aftermarket sony head phones.
