Re: Hatchback options with Automatic Transmission

Can we please have an updated list of all the ATs available currently. I guess the one earlier one in the thread is a bit dated.

Yes thats it we have right now for Hatch, Santro AT is no more available, Which used to cheapest AT. I was seeing timenow Drive program, there they are using A-Star from two week for regular usage in city, and FE they are getting is amazing 14 kmpl. That should be best FE for any AT cars in India while driving in city.

And we don't have AT cars which would cost 3.5 L or below 4L anymore. Hope Cars like Alto, Spark comes with AT with good FE and below 4L pricing.

i20 comes in an AT version too. With 100bhp gamma petrol. We can buy a linea at the same price though.

^^^
The link to the TimesNow program is The Hook up: A STAR automatic-Times Drive-Weekend Shows -TIMESNOW.tv - Latest Breaking News, Big News Stories, News Videos

Reviewer mentions the usual cons (poor boot size, cramped rear etc) making this an out-n-out city car and he got an FE of 14.5kmpl with a/c on in city (Delhi I presume) at speeds of 60-70kmph max.

Do you really want to buy a Fabia with a DSG?. They have no other auto box in India. They stopped selling their automatic to cut prices and position it below polo. Now an automatic polo with the auto box in Vento would be lovely. They have the same 1.6 engine even.

Re: Hatchback options with Automatic Transmission

If ford offered an automatic option for the Figo diesel, they would pretty much kill any other automatic car in the segment. The Figo diesel isnt too expensive to begin with and add say 50-60k more for an auto transmission. The i10 AT costs ~5.8 lakhs OTR Bangalore now! A Figo diesel with similar specs should be around 6-6.2 lakhs. Would probably return an FE of around 12 km/l. Would be almost half the running costs of the i10 AT! I would seriously consider this car if they do launch it.

Thats right and a shame. While all small cars overseas comes with an automatic option, for some weird reason Indian manufacturers are not keen to follow the universal pattern. Automatic transmission is so suited for our driving conditions!

Re: Hatchback options with Automatic Transmission

^^ Add to that AT option is available only in the most expensive version of any car. Except for the now discontinued i10-Magna-AT all cars across segments offer AT in their top end version only. These companies fail to understand that a person opting for AT may not need Leather seats and other gadgets per se. It's not that AT == Luxury.
