Looking at the way the view counter on your YouTube video is climbing up, I'm not surprised at all. The video has seen over 40,000 viewers since today morning ~ 9AM. Counter will climb up at a higher pace today evening after office hours.

Agree. While some underdogs would have just ignored the owner's complaints while not having the guts to go against one of their handful of dealers, companies like Skoda/VW would have probably blamed the customer while defending the dealer or even threatened him with a legal case

The OP is kind of lucky here that his car is from Maruti which is in a position to control its dealers.

Re: Video: Fake service done on my Baleno RS by Mandovi Motors!

This is appalling
Do not know how many customers are being cheated across India by such unscrupulous dealers. It is outright cheating & the dishonesty of dealers, customers are short changed & the car manufacturers also pass the buck saying it is between customer & service provider, one bad example should not be generalised.

I think IPC 420 case should be lodged by Maruti against Mandovi motors to set an example & win back the trust of its customers, who have paid hard earned money to buy its product & service.

Disgusted with the cheating & unprofessional behaviour of Mandovi Motors, Bangalore.

The Toyota workshop I used to go to also had a general rule of the bays being off-limits to customers but the owners lounge had a huge window, through which I could see all the cars in the entire service area. Even if I sometimes couldn't see the exact work being done on my particular car I could see that it was not left idle for any long period. In fact, a couple of times, when there was an underbody issue that I was concerned about the SA himself had escorted me into the bay to show me the underside when the car was jacked up. Very satisfying experience at Madhuban Toyota at Kurla, Mumbai for over a decade.
Similarly with my current Ford. The SA and technicians at Bhavna Ford are very accommodating and allow me into the bay area if I request them. However, after seeing them work I may now just pay the bay a single visit, after which I either wait in the lounge or go home and return later to pick the car up. I guess I've had better experiences than most, with both my cars.

Re: Video: Fake service done on my Baleno RS by Mandovi Motors!

I don't own maruti car, all my car's are from tata stable. This was back in 2014, my newly purchased tata car was giving some issues and the floor manager had joined new after working in a maruti service center for 13 years. He was very appreciative about the quality of maruti cars. If I vaguely remember he did quote that in the first servicing (not second) the car barely moved out of washing bay, contrasting what they have to go through a new tata car. Now I think it may be a widely practiced behavior spilling into further services. I would quote again, this was told by the guy to highlight the reliability and quality that maruti puts in their car. This was in Bangalore.

On the day that an Official Review is released, it is usually the most visited page for a couple of days.

Not so today. This thread is on no.1 position. Screengrab from Google Analytics:
Video: Fake service done on my Baleno RS by Mandovi Motors!-capture.jpg

Even if you club the 2nd, 3rd & 4th page of Nexon, this thread has higher active views.

Re: Video: Fake service done on my Baleno RS by Mandovi Motors!

Have been following this thread since yesterday, but found time to reply only now. I must say that I am not surprised. I have staarted losing confidence from MSIL dealer workshops. So many cases of bloated bills are reported from MSIL workshops. Having said this I must mention that other manufacturers are no saints either.

Full marks to you for staying firm on your stand of not taking down the video and this thread no matter how many apologies they offer. Please continue to do that. As you said, concrete steps need to be taken for preventing this kind of incidents in future instead of doing damage control now. Demand answers from them on this point. I am damn sure this is not a one off incident.

Faking items in service doesn’t seem to be a new practice either. Please refer to my experience here: http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/indian...-refunded.html They reportedly did that huge list of jobs in the bill in just half day. I always had the suspicion that they didn’t carry out much of the work and still feel so. Again, this was a dealer workshop, the largest chain of dealers in Mumbai.

The incident is now published here as well: http://www.younews.in/news/busted-ma...era-installed/

There are audits and it happens with surprise visits by the TSM (Territory Service Manager) to any service center.

Post visit, what is audited is again random - It can be the way the service is carried out, The complaints and feedbacks (the Works Manager will have a list of complaints that he would have received from Maruti to attend for customers), the overall service center (Lounge, Billing, waiting time etc).

A standard practice across various dealerships representing different brands - The restrictions as well the lounge area from where you can see your car being serviced. Pretty consistent now for all.

Again a standard procedure. They call you and walk with you to show anything to take a nod to replace or in general give you a heads-up.

And a few other places

Might be a good time for Maruti to make a statement?

So, is it fair to say that Maruti Suzuki once again steals the show from Tata? Poor Tata, this is one of their best shots and yet doesn't seem to be enough to guarantee them the limelight!

Woah!! Just for this response and apologetic attitude from the dealer and MSIL, my next car will definitely be from the Maruti Stable!!
Its not comitting the mistake but the repentance and the fear of the aftermath which assures Maruti owners a good deal the next time around. Kudos to the reactive and action oriented management.

Mumbai?? This was in Bangalore!

Re: Video: Fake service done on my Baleno RS by Mandovi Motors!

I might have snooped to this page at least 20-25 times today to check updates. I was tempted to write something in your support as others have, but now am getting a bit worried about you and your family. Am sure nothing untoward is going to happen, but still please be a bit more alert
All those guys came to your house so they know exactly where you live!

Considering it is MSIL, am sure dealers are looking at a huge blow, either monetarily or even more sever punishments like someone losing their jobs which also looks very much on the cards.

I too had a bad experience in VW Kochi showroom. I had given my car for second year routine service. Since there were some work to be done, they took 2-3 days to give me back and the day I got the car, I was rushing to hometown so did not bother to check much in detail except for the stuff I had mentioned them to do. Couple of days later, I suddenly see that blue-tooth which was working earlier has suddenly stopped working. I had to wait for 2 weeks to get back to the showroom. My car is comfortline and they usually don't have blue-tooth connectivity. But I had got the audio system upgraded to highline version during purchase 2 years back and it was working perfectly fine. upon checking they very clearly told me that my car is missing one connector and without that it would not work. Even after lots of fighting and involving higher-ups, I could not get the issue fixed just because I was late by a few weeks and there was no solid proof that it was removed

Re: Video: Fake service done on my Baleno RS by Mandovi Motors!

I might also have been a victim of this , realizing this after seeing the video.

During my first service i reminded my SA that i would like to be at the car when they do the checkup. I was told that they would start working on my car in 30 min and would let me know. While i was waiting for more than 45 min, when i called the SA he said that they have completed the checkup, have sent the car for washing, and i was taken to washing bay.

I was not ok with this had, but had to let it go, being a weekend i had other plans to take my family out and did not want to disturb the plan.

Would be more careful during the next services, vehicle will be going for second service soon.

Thanks
