Maybe that's how it works in your neck of the woods but in the NCR, the service bill would have to show the VAT separately on the consumables & spares. It may add up to what you call "MRP". However, ALL workshops & sales outlets are supposed to indicate the VAT separately.

Yes - I noticed the MRP on the spares was split into 2 sections a- Cost and b - VAT/TAX. and some of these 2 that came out to be exact MRP printed, so I might have been wrong.

Well nothing compared to my Palio. I gave my car for service yesterday and I needed to replace the exhaust muffler and clutch.
Exhaust Muffler - Rs. 5000 + Taxes!
Clutch Replacement - 7000 Rs + Taxes!

Total Bill would be close to Rs. 20,000!

lol my accent 1.6L's clutch overhaul costed me 6500 Rs + tax.

one of my friend's swift's rear bumper was teared apart in a small impact. It costed him Rs 6250 bwahaha.

Accent's bumper cost Rs 5000 only.

My regular service bills never crossed 2500-2700 Rs for my accent.

I never changed engine oil from MASS. Throttle body and injector cleaning were also done outside MASS. But even then there is huge difference in the price of the brake pads mentioned in the first post.

1st Paid Service Due-Zen Estilo Vxi

Hi,
My 1st Paid Service is Due and i have received calls from maruti for its service dates. Actually the 24 months according to schedule was due on Jan 15 2009. But the kms run is Just 9300 even today March 13. Can anyone advice me if its better to just wait for 20000 or 15000kms? do i need to service it now.I just read the people experience and i think it would be really a waste to change all things as per the Maruti schedule. Can anyone advise? the 3rd free service was done 15th feb 08 / 5930kms. after that i had just taken the car for full wash and free checkup camp. Now its more than 2yrs and i have been getting calls from the service station asking for service. No problems with the car. just some slight noises.
Any advice would be helpful. Thank you.

Binoy you should get your car serviced immediately. Engine oil life is not only depends upon KM run. Mineral oil should be changed in 6 to 9 months.
Also other things like coolant, battery, gear oil etc needs to be checked.

I change engine oil in my Baleno every 10,000 km, using a synthetic like Mobil 1. I started this at 15,000 km, hence I have done the 35000km service last month. Oil was supplied by me. These were major components of the bill:

Oil filter------------ 66.09
RR brake cylinder--- 243.17
RL brake cylinder--- 243.17
Brake fluid 500 ml-- 275.56

Paid service ------------ 650.00
Caliper pin greasing------ 75.00
Brake Bleeding ---------- 150.00
Brake overhaul complete- 360.00

with miscellaneous small things and taxes, total came to 2365.00

I was charged Rs. 1060 for my 1st Free Servicing of my Alto Lxi, whereas i was expecting it to be around 600 Rupees. They have added some Oil Supplement worth 300 Rupees without my Consent. Is it really needed?

Also, should the Engine Oil be changed every 5000 Kms or 10000 Kms? Does it affect the Car Performance? The Alto Manual states to change it every 10000 Kms but i intend to give my Car for Servicing every 5000 Kms.

oil change should be done for 5000/10000 km depending upon the oil you replaced earlier. oil brands priced at rs 100/120 should be replaced at 5000km and oil brands priced at rs 180/200 should be replaced at 10000km. check with service centre which oil they used for replacement.
car servicing should be done at 5000km that includes wheel alignment and balancing, oil change if required, general check up.
