Re: SCOOP : NEW HM AMBASSADOR (CS Version)

Hats off to HM. They are doing a Porsche in India!!
Sticking to a century old design!!

So far, whatever I have read about HM, Zappo's explanation makes sense! If that indeed is the case they can very well go on producing the Amby for the coming 50 years!!

Re: SCOOP : NEW HM AMBASSADOR (CS Version)

As long as they have the gov support, such gems will continue to be produced
i cant believe - our sofa on wheels is stil persistent with a 60 year old design.

What else can u expect from West Bengal - they kicked off the tatas. i think the phrase - "frog in his own well" applies here.
Long live HM!!

Even the Amby's sofa on wheels is no longer a USP, most of the Tata cars offer rear seats that are comparable (while under-thigh support is slightly better in the Amby, the Tata's usually offer a more optimized back-rest / posture).

On an aside, it saddens me no end when I think about West Bengal's tryst with politics. The whole state, has one half-way decent city, that too literally being choked to death (the Amby's contribute too ). Had the Tata's not been forced out, another region in the state could have been lifted from a perpetual state of penury.

In fact, all one needs to do, is to look at HM and immediately figure out what West Bengal stands for in terms of principals. The rich heritage, is just being wasted away.

Re: SCOOP : NEW HM AMBASSADOR (CS Version)

HM is in the news nowadays, what with their arrangment to make cars with PHOTON at a finalisation stage. They want to knock the price off now by getting into the 4 meter excise bracket for cars. The stock is also buzzing. I'm watching this space

Re: SCOOP : NEW HM AMBASSADOR (CS Version)

Has anybody seen the so called CS yet?, the photos in the first page do not give an idea of the side profile or the overall length. They had announced last year that they will be coming out with some varients in Dec 2010, however no news or pictures of them yet.

Re: SCOOP : New HM Ambassador (CS Version)

Yes it is PROTON from Malayasia. I saw it in the news yesterday that PROTON is looking for a partner in HM as they are manufacturing MITSUBISHI already here and their component manufacturing unit would be helpful for them.

Hope they come out with a good model for the Amby. keeping my fingers crossed.

The changes are like (atleast in the photo shared); this wouldn't have drawn any attention if it was not masked
Poor man's Camouflage, han!

IMHO, something like the below would do wonders!

If the new Amby really came looking that, I would buy it pronto!!

Cheers

Dear friends,

There are people who love Amby ! I don't know why but they do because they do.
I showed this 'scoop' to my friend Jaggu who already own an Amby ! He was so excited that he said , " you know what ! I will buy this car! " !!!

Re: SCOOP : New HM Ambassador (CS Version)

This might well be to bring the overall length of the car below 4m and in turn pass on the tax rebate for such car to the customer and lower priced and in turn much for VFM proposition.

But, HM should learn........Don't know why this early 1950's design is blindly followed in HM.
My colleague's dad used to work in HM’s factory some time ago- and I was given to understand essentially the same gist that Zappo had mentioned. Would be very surprised if HM managed to pull off a refined, modern-tech ‘retro-look’ Amby CS. In all probability, the Amby CS will just be that – an Amby with its tail chopped under 4m and looking like perhaps, a stub-tail Landmaster

Re: SCOOP : New HM Ambassador (CS Version)

HM has issued releases about launching a "new small car" by July 2011.
Check out the article

HM to launch a small car in India by July 2011

It seems to be the same CS version of the Ambassador
