Yes, 328i is for sure. Safe to assume 320i would be around as well.

Coming. Could be through the CBU route, not clear yet

Possible that Baseline = Corp Edition - unsure right now. The 'Sport' (Black Badge) and the 'Luxury' (Chrome Badge) are in the side, beneath OVRMs. Not sure if 'Base' would be mentioned.

I don't think anywhere in the world does the F30 have a twin turbo diesel. Its the same 184bhp engine in the present car.

Unless...

BMW decide to treat prospective customers and enthusiasts with a sprightly variant of the diesel 3-Series, (read: M3 diesel *winks*) which could be plausible.

If they can engineer a 640d and consider bringing out a diesel M5, I don't see why they wouldn't entertain thoughts on a diesel M3.

The twin turbo n47 is what is doing duty in the 525d now with 218bhp and 400+nm. It will be launched with the F30, but it hasn't been just yet and I doubt that will make it to India very soon.

The 640d engine is also available in the 535d and the 740d.

And its an M550D not a diesel M5

Akshay, apparently the engine cover says 'Twin Power Turbo'. So, let's wait and watch.

Also, the pic of the car at ARAI in the previous pages is the Sport Version (same rims). The Luxury Line has 17" light-alloy wheels - multi-spoke 414.

That could be the 328i or the 335i also, since I think they both use twin power turbo tech. If no diesel above the 320d has been released anywhere in the world, I doubt it would be released here first.

BTW you do know that twin power turbo doesn't mean twin turbo right? Its their tech of a variable geometry turbo or something similar. Also I just double checked, and BMW has attached the Twin Power Turbo tech to the present N47 also, like they have been doing with other current engines too. So the engine is the same 2.0d with 184bhp except with the new Twin Power Tech tagline.

re: SCOOP! 2012 F30 BMW 3 Series spied *UPDATE* Unveiled (Pg. 22)

BMW and their stupid 'twin-power turbo' non-sense, twin-power in BMW dictionary means 'a single turbo with twin scrolls'. The engines which uses 2 turbos are simply termed 'twin turbo' or even 'bi-turbo'.

Visit this link Twin-Scroll Turbo System Design Explained

The 3, 5, X3, X5 and other BMW's are using the new engine 'N55' with the 'twin-power turbo' tech. Z4 is the only BMW which still uses the twin-turbo 'N54' engine. I haven't read up on their twin turbo diesels, but I'm pretty sure they use two turbos.

Yup - there are four versions of the 2-liter turbo diesel four, producing 116 bhp (316d), 143 bhp (318d), 163 bhp (320d EfficientDynamics) or 184hp (320d). The 184bhp is what we'll get. Only the 323d series has two sequential turbos.

The 535d has two individual turbos (and the M550d has three) on the 3 litre inline 6 diesel.

re: SCOOP! 2012 F30 BMW 3 Series spied *UPDATE* Unveiled (Pg. 22)

d_himan,

No offense but few pointers from my side on all your posts,

1. You have not posted any new or valuable info in any of your posts, if you even bothered to read all the pages on this thread everything you have said has already been spoken about / confirmed by me or other members on this forum. Including details about Sport line at ARAI Etc.

2. There IS NO twin turbo diesel in the 3 as of now, not in India not in Germany and not anywhere in the world, the engines will only come later and make its global launch sometime around the BMW 3 Touring launch. Please avoid creating false excitement for others by using words like "Watch This Space" there is no space and nothing to watch.

The only thing pending is launch date, and delivery date which I did mention earlier and have been wrong and while I know the new date I am avoiding posting it here as to avoid mis leading people, so really unless you have some concrete new info and which you can back it up with I truly recommend it's better to not post rather than create excitement on absolutely nothing. Somewhere I have already mentioned deliveries will start in June / Q2 but I am not even sure if that will happen now due to existing inventory and BMW India's plan to launch the 3 with a lot of cars produced.

And if you have so much info did you forget Navigation system? Which currently is standard on the High line model of 320d?

And the "Twin Power Turbo" you refer to would perhaps have been the engine cover of the BMW 328i.

Regards,

P.S : Dont get offended this is not a personal attack it's just that all your posts are just copy paste from messages in this thread from the past.

Hey Dev, even the 320d on the F30 now has the twin power turbo badging, so it must have been the diesel. Also the present highline does not have navigation, but its a paid option for some 80k.

Akshay,

Thanks a lot had no idea about the engine cover, but the point I'm making is for anyone to claim there is another diesel engine coming which the world does not have is just fantasy and pretty much a fact we all know.

Also about Navigation being optional was not something I knew I always thought in 2012 its standard on 320d as 3 people I know got it I assumed it was now standard.

Thanks again,
