I do not understand this fixation with Looks.

What most of the people posted here have totally overlooked is that this Ritz is primarily an engine upgrade. The VVT from Swift finds its way into the Ritz now, which would translate to better fuel economey and driveablity.

I havd driven the new Swift extensively, and its a gem of an engine. Not only in terms of performance, but it consistently gives fuel economy of over 14 kmpl (with AC) in city driving conditions. Something even an Alto would be proud of !

^^^I think people are just surprised that something that is clear to anyone who eyes the Ritz even once (that the rear sucks) is not clear to those at MSIL. And instead of attending to that quirkiness, they are playing around with the front which while not really great-looking is not in the need for touch-up.

But yeah, the engines in both P & D variants are a pleasure to drive. Something I think with regret everytime I get behind the wheel of our Swift1.3P :Frustrati

An artist's rendering:

Yes, the rear is not the best looking. They have gone wrong during the design stage itself. Alongside the swift, the ritz still manages 4-5k cars every month. And if globally it has a fair bit of acceptance then suzuki would not want to spend money on changing the rear completely.

Maruti is repeating their blunders, imo. When astar needed a thourough exterior revamp, they just beigified the interiors. When ritz needs a backlift, they just facelifts it.
But my gutt feeling is that both an extended astar and backlifted ritz wll come as new models, keeping te originals in market.

Why can't Maruthi come out with a better Ritz ZDI with the works especially with a automatic gearbox! This will sell like hot cakes. Today we consumers need a small automatic diesel car that is easy to park, drive in town and economical!

Wake up Maruthi.

Spot on, this has become more like a rant now on every new car release thread from my side!

Agreed it will be a little costly and may not find a whole lot of buyers, but I still feel there is a sizable chunk of people like me who are desperately waiting for the day when you get a decent AT with diesel heart. Maruti is probably in the best position to tap this segment, but looks like they are happy with the volumes business rather than exploring this. We simply have no other choice apart from i20 below 10 lakhs for a diesel hatch/sedan. Sad.

N0!! Don't do that ,Maruti. You are killing the mature character of Ritz.Better provide a Ritz with ZDi variant ,ACC in Z versions and an improved rear end.As Prithvi said ,Maruti should offer an Automatic Transmission for the Ritz. Then it will be a hit.

Motorbeam spotted Ritz facelift recently in totally Undisguised avatar.

Looks Nice. Seems like the redesign has taken ques from Alpa Romeo. I hope they get a ZDi version with all the bells and whistles.

I am planning to buy a new car in next few weeks. Ritz VDi is one of the shortlists.

1. Is it worth to wait for the new car or should I go ahead and buy the current version?

2. Ideally I wanted to buy mini-Xylo (if it comes in 4.75-6.0 Lakh range) but can't wait till october to replace my ageing Palio. Would Ritz be a match for it. Considering my wife who is 5.3 will also drive the car?

3. Do you guys expect a price hike for the refreshed version?

4. With new Swift's equipment level, I am worried that they may discontinue ABS on Ritz VDi, and offer it only on ZDi - a total let down. I would rather love to have a VDi with ABS and Airbags (Maruti offers it on Wagon R by the way). What do you think, Maruti will do?

Same thing also reported by ACI.

New Splash from Japan; not much changes at the rear.

The alloy wheels remind me of the Ford Fusion. Bring them on MSIL please!
