These pick up derived SUVs are like that - case in point the Ford Endeavor.

I get the feeling at that price, we are getting a bare bones version, perhaps even the previous gen, minus all creature comforts, which would have made it a valid choice for some people as a passenger car.

You'd think if Isuzu wants to sell stuff India they would have found the time to put up an India-specific website...this is the strangest launch in a long time.

Re: Spotted: Isuzus Undergoing Testing. EDIT : MU-7 SUV & D-Max Pickup launched

Received the brochure and spec sheets -
quick summary - brochure pic is previous gen with steel wheels and two air bags for the pick ups. Poor quality scan but the MU-7 seems to have decent space in the third row (can't tell how high the floor is though.) Prices are as mentioned in this thread earlier. No 4x4 option available right now.

Files are attached.

First of all a big thanks for all this data.

Now I think there is nothing strange in this launch and I have a big feeling Isuzu is footing the bills for the Dealership operations or select Chevrolet dealers must have been approached to facilitate this arrangement and they could be really testing how people react to the brand and their products, so this approach is fine, make the least noise and if things go bad, quietly exit.

Yes this approach does not exuberate confidence in the brand but you win some you lose some.

I saw the posted specs and airbags is standard on the crew cab version and even mechanically it reads fine. So as far as I care they have given me a decent kit to start with, it is mechanically sound, has the basic safety bits and looks like to match. I can now keep around a lakh or lakh.5 and mod away to glory.
I feel people who buy Thars, arent they shelling so much for what is basically an iron age product. No offence to the Jeepers on this forum, great respect for what you guys do, it's just I feel Mahindra is over charging people with what they offer.

So in that context, isn't this a great offering. I always wanted India to have American style Pickups as normal day to day driving vehicles, perhaps the day is not far off. Maybe Isuszu does well and then forces other cos to bring their offerings and then won't that be a sight, Hilux' and Ram's and Yukons roaming the streets. WOW

My comment about a strange launch was with regard to the low noise, no website, one showroom aspects of it. If you want to test the market you have to give your products a fair chance and I don't think Isuzu has done that. If people don't know you exist, then how are you going to gauge the popularity of what you are selling?

The one showroom btw is struggling to put together info and answer questions - another sign of how poorly this launch was planned.

My earlier posts say that this car at this price is a steal and will redefine the market. Yes, it shows how overpriced everything else is. More interestingly if this bit about goods carriers attracting 10% CBU duty is true, I fail to see why car companies have ignored pick ups all this time. when they wake up, your wish of seeing Rams and Yukons on Indian roads may come true very soon.

Pricing seems to be correct for the pick up versions.

Here's the Autocar India link on the same - http://www.autocarindia.com/News/333...ngs-begin.aspx

Also, if you scroll down on the link, you see a comment from someone that says the pick up versions are all sold out already!! wonder how!!

isuzu pics

I decided to pay a visit to the new Isuzu showroom in Hyderabad.
The showroom is located in Jubilee Hills, road number 36. Its beside the Skoda showroom and is managed by Mahavir Automobiles.

They had 2 vehicles on display. The twin cab D-Max and an SUV called MU-7.

They also have a single cab pickup truck but that is available in commercial yellow plates. The twin cab D-Max is BS4 and can be registered as a personal vehicle.

The D-Max:
135 BHP Engine.
Approximately 8.2 lakhs ex showroom.
Driver and Passenger airbags.
ABS.
There are a lot of add-ons available.
Full kit would cost around 2 to 2.5 lakhs.
These vehicles are made in Thailand for now.
Production should start in India very soon.
Factory is in Andhra Pradesh.
They have around 60 vehicles in the first batch. 3 bookings in less than a week. Deliveries commence in 3 months.

The MU-7:
OTR is around 28 lakhs.
Leather Seats.
Alloy wheels.
Its longer than Toyota Fortuner.

I was assisted by a very helpful salesman from the showroom. Deekshith (9700102040).

Re: isuzu pics

The Twin Cab D-Max.

Excellent plastic quality. Awesome paint quality. Very well built. The bonnet is so heavy, you need to use some muscle to lift it up.
I did not find any panel gaps. The drivers seat lacks underthigh support.
The rear seats have no recline. Its not going to be very comfortable on long drives.
There is an ash-tray in the rear door.

Re: Spotted: Isuzus Undergoing Testing. EDIT : MU-7 SUV & D-Max Pickup launched

At last a Japanese pick up in India at a very reasonable price, will surely kill the domestic pick up trucks if proper strategy is followed.
Hope the 'test' phase gets over and they expand the dealerships to more cities, or easier way, expand through the existing Isuzu-SML dealerships.
Wonder why no website is up and running, who knows with this 'soft' launch they must have forgotten that.

Wow. I love the dual cab pickups price! Cmon isuzu get all the showrooms setup and quick and when you find time please consider the 4*4.

Can we give the company suggestions? Some of the good markets for these are the Punjab, HR and UP belt and down south the TN, Kerala Kar region.

Am i just drooling or will there be a day when Tbhp considers this a viable option and go for a review of this vehicle?

Thanks BBlost! Amazing pictures.

Re: Spotted: Isuzus Undergoing Testing. EDIT : MU-7 SUV & D-Max Pickup launched

Sorry not nitpicking.. but why is the instrumentation control stalks the wrong way here?
It's a Japanese pick up, made in Thailand, RHD. Then why is the control stalks LHD oriented?
