Re: Pre-Release Test Ride : New Gurkha 4x4 @ Force Motors Pune

As silly as it gets, they thought it this way.

Offroad vehicle= 4x4

so,

Extreme offroad vehicle= 4x4x4. simple!!!

Btw, it seems this is the official version of the backstory!

Re: Force Gurkha on sale again. Launched @ 6.25 Lakhs

Looks like Force Motors consulted Dilip Chabria for designing the new Gurkha! My my! this is one goofy looking vehicle!!

Just look at those immensely funny looking bumpers and wheel well cladings! sigh!! Mahindra Thar in comparison looks so very handsome!

Are these custom job models really going to make it onto the roads? Can we expect a simple, pleasing to eye model (without those darb looking plastic stuff on the body!)

There are 3 or more threads on the same topic.. Mods will have to lock up any one of them.

The BS3 version hardtop at 8.5 ex-showroom Delhi more for a BS4 (if and when it is launched) for metro cities. Is there a market for this ?

Thar also has a better engine and has access to much larger service and support infrastructure than Force Gurkha.
Awaiting the official team-bhp test drive report.

Few pics from the Indianautoblog.
Looks good. With a little tweaking it can pass off as a Merc G wagen.
Exterior looks good, what about interiors? I did not see even a single pic of the interiors. How does it compare with Thar 4x4 in performance.

Actually, Yes ....4X4X4 is an accepted way to indicate a 4-wheel steering 4WD vehicle.

In this case, I guess the guys who made the stickers were probably given instructions like "Put 4, then put X"...they did not know when to stop .

Yes somewhat. The production model looks like this.

The yellow contraption seen earlier is just a customization debacle that happens every now and then along with some Indian launches. No big deal. Ignore kar.

Did you guys notice the '4x4x4' nomenclature? Reads like India's first multi-axle SUV .

Re: Pre-Release Test Ride : New Gurkha 4x4 @ Force Motors Pune

So is the new Gurkha going to fill in the requirements of Armed forces, CRPF and Police etc? Is this going to be a Gypsy killer?

Whats your opinion guys?

But what about the "Force Motors" angle?
Have they become more urbane - or do they still carry the blue collar attitude?

Re: Force Gurkha on sale again. Launched @ 6.25 Lakhs

I do NOT understand the pricing at all! What makes them charge such a premium for a car which can NOT stand upto a 3L car? And a 2L premium for a 4x4?

Is the Gypsy even alive, that is the question. Except in the offroading community, no else even bothers about a jeep or a gypsy. It was only when the Thar came, that the Jeep has become more 'commercial'. A lot has been discussed about the Gypsy and Jimny taking over the mantle etc. Lets talk gurkha here.

Re: Pre-Release Test Ride : New Gurkha 4x4 @ Force Motors Pune

In the south, Jeep in the form of Mahindra Major is as common as i10s. So Jeep is quite commercial over here from a very long time. Thar launch made sure the inflow of new Jeeps is steady but Gypsy is a totally different story. Mostly, we are born suckers for Jeeps.

We are talking Gurkha only. What potential does the Gurkha have to be the stock jeep for defense and police? That was the intent of the phrase "Gypsy Killer"

Makes sense?

Ok. In that sense i still feel that Maruti will have a one up. Trusted Vehicle thats been in service for years unless the forces want to go with Force.
