re: Team-BHP SCOOP: Maruti Ciaz / YL1. Scoop Pics on Page 99

The concepts are always way too good looking and impressive compared to the production model. May be they tone it down for the masses to accept as a car produced will be for a wide range of customers. But it is disappointing to see how it changes shape through different stages from sketch board to concept to the production model.

IMHO, The Alignment of Maruti Suzuki lettering & Suzuki chrome logo on the boot needs to be rectified. Both need to be placed a couple of inches down to look properly aligned.

Just hoping that MSIL doesn't add up a fatty chrome strip in between the logos and the licence plate

re: Team-BHP SCOOP: Maruti Ciaz / YL1. Scoop Pics on Page 99

Lets wait for the official review and the complete pictures.I still have some hopes on the interiors, exteriors I agree was a blooper to what was shown, hyped or expected. From the speculated details posted here , looks like none of the variants are getting cruise control, ABS is not available in lower variants and air bags are only available on the Z variant. The feature list in Z variant is not matching with the competitors & to me it looks like the most stripped down top end in the segment. Need to wait for the pricing to see if Maruthi can get the right numbers on board.

cheers,
pdma.

Team-BHP SCOOP- Maruti YL1, Vento sized SX4 replacement details leaked

Is it really that different from the prototype? Or are we being a tad bit too fussy about it. It isn't exactly a norm to put into production oversized shining alloys and hallucinating headlights.

wrt to the Kizashi, that was way different than the prototype. I know and remember because I had spent enough time drooling over the pictures and was thoroughly taken aback when it was finally launched.

Just a bigger tire and snazzy alloys can still do it!

I agree with the lacking USP bit of our discussion but then again, there's still a market for a 'Jack of all trade, master of none' in the Indian automotive scene. I will not be surprised if MS manages a sub-10 for the entire line up; which will excite most of us here. I read somewhere that it is touted to have the most spacious cabin, the specs show the overall length and the wheelbase to be longest in the segment.

Humble submission, let's just wait till the launch before anything else. It's like knocking the boxer down in the hallway before he could get to the ring.

re: Team-BHP SCOOP: Maruti Ciaz / YL1. Scoop Pics on Page 99

I agree with people who say that buyers in this segment will look beyond mileage and price.

What is forgotten is Maruti Suzuki's presence in the tier 2 cities and towns. Buyers there can be drawn in with an attractive price tag and a good ARAI FE. Leave alone other aspects like space and features

Hence if this product is really accepted well, there is no doubt it will do good numbers. As of now the only cars in this segment doing good are the City and Verna, with the Germans and Americans not so many numbers. However in towns, MS will be the sole player with a bit of Hyundai these days. Guess it can get good numbers here too, in addition to what it sells in cities hence that's an added advantage.

This is one of the most difficult segment in indian auto industry. Personally I feel that cars like Vento, Sunny, Manza, SX4 etc. have certain plus points, and deserved batter sales.

In areas where only a few auto companies are present, and Maruti has good network, people would still prefer either Dzire or Ertiga.

I see they've used Ertiga's tail lamp casing on the outer lamp cluster of the Ciaz. Reckon there's a saving in there somewhere.

Ciaz is actually neutral looking car. Not very flashy but still attractive. Most people in this segment actually just want that. People here are more interested for more space, more features, plush ride etc. If Ciaz can offer that at good price, they have winner in hand. Feature list looks impressive for me. Competition heating up again in this segment. City & Verna watch out, after all its Maruti coming back with new car.

Very disappointing outcome. The car does not look anything premium and with a terrible engine, its purely for the look big, drive sedate and spend less. Waiting to look at the car in flesh. Interiors and features are also not what expected. I am sure Maruti will get the price right and take the cake from present Hondas waiting list.
No doubt bigger tires, better alloys will make the car look sweeter.
Every car maker should start giving us option to decide what type of alloys we want from a set of at least 5 designs.

Maruti should have given the grill similar to the chinese Ciaz. It looks far more premium than what Maruti is giving us.

Why going so extreme??

SX4 engine may have been under specced but in no parlance was it a terrible engine?

How do you define an engine as good or bad? Reliability,Frugality or on displacement alone with eye pleasing 0-60/100 kmph figures.

This is the national MJD that powers close to 40K cars month on month and I do not see it "terrible" from any angle.

As I said I think its aimed for a sedate drive with good mileage. What I meant was for what Suzuki claimed to launch the next big thing "a sporty car" and what not news, this is a sure disappointment.
Engine is the last thing an average car buyer thinks about and no women co-passenger gives a head to it so it will find its home in India, but for some enthusiasts engine is everything. IMHO 1.3L does not do justice. Lets wait for the real deal a TD.

The chrome grill will look good only if it has chrome surround. Hope Maruti change their treatment to the front grill.

If this car had a led drl streaking above that projector lamp, it would completely change the car's character to an infinitely better looking beast. Wake up Maruti! I secretly hope they give a dealer option for this!
