re: Team-BHP SCOOP: Maruti Ciaz / YL1. Scoop Pics on Page 99

Not so good looking for me. The hood slopes from a higher hip line which doesnt give it a good stance. Europeans are masters of having a almost flatter hood with a lower hip line which gives them an elegant stance from the front as well as the side. Hopefully, the designers did not have a city in their mind.

I think the difference in rear (light, exhaust etc) may be for different versions - for higher end, dual exhaust and extra chrome, and for lower end versions, it may be reflectors and body-coloured lines).

These changes might be because of the norms particular to the country, Different places with different norms. The pics however show a complete redesign which doesn't seem to be true. Well lets wait and watch

Looks upmarket though, Almost similar to the Kizashi. Overall not bad mate. The SX4 looked too bland for my liking.

This car looks better than DZire definitely and the rear portion side profile looks like a Honda City. SX4 has a very good ground clearance, let us see if this has too. The SX4 was a good looking machine. Thanks for sharing this information. I believe they will stick to the same engines of its prior siblings.

re: Team-BHP SCOOP: Maruti Ciaz / YL1. Scoop Pics on Page 99

Suzuki describes the styling language used on the Ciaz as 'noble AND sporting', i.e., mature and young at the same time. Which I take to mean 'European' styling rather than over-wrought with severe cuts, creases, gashes and 'fluidity' that we see from Hyundai (Verna, Elantra) and Honda (Amaze and esp the City).

To that extent they appear to have succeeded, though not nearly as much as Toyota have with the new Corolla, which had similar design aspirations.

BUT: most folks in our market seem to adore Hyundai and Honda's designer excesses, ostentation and, to my eye at least, vulgarity. So Suzuki may struggle to sell this car nearly as well as the Verna and esp the City.

Eagerly waiting to hear more on the new Ciaz, probably this could be a c2 segment game changer for maruti. The concept looks are one to drool for, I hope the real creation resembles it to proximity. The design looks a bit similar on Kizashis line. If maruti can launch a diesel Kizashi even that would do wonders. probably placed between the likes of octavia and the jetta. A D1 game changer but the biggest hurdle again would be an diesel engine.
I am not sure what's the progress on the maruti s in house diesel engine development ? Does anybody have any news ?

This will definitely be a game changer. Not only is it a brand new Maruti product (which is usually enough just to sell), it seems like they are going to be offering more than good A.S.S. with this; space, comfort, features etc.

The Kizashi project itself, has been dropped and Suzuki says there will be no further development and research into it since it bombed world over. Apparently they had plans for a turbo charged version and even an estate. Saddens me but it is what it is.

The Ciaz looks very good inside and out, but is it going to be launched in the 7.5 to 10L price band? The 16" wheels, projector headlights, ACC and all that indicate a C+ positioning of the Ciaz. Somewhere between the City & Cruze and slightly into the D-Segment for the top-end?

It does look well loaded with features (MSIL have finally understood that feature-laden cars do bring in buyers), but it would be not be positioned in the C+ segment.

The sole reason is cubic capacity. With a naturally aspirated 1.4 petrol and a VGT 1.3 diesel taken from the Ertiga (if the rumours turn out to be true), they cannot position it too high. In fact, the choice of engines may indicate that the Ciaz will come with a very VFM price tag.

re: Team-BHP SCOOP: Maruti Ciaz / YL1. Scoop Pics on Page 99

Referring to the first picture posted by volkman10 above, the headroom seems a bit tight for well built passengers. Having said that, the car does seem to have impressive stance and looks. It has potential to match Honda City provided Maruti equips it with 4 engine options like Hyundai Verna-
Petrol- 1.4 K Series VVT with power bumped upto around 100PS
1.6 M Series VVT from SX4
Diesel- 1.3 DDiS with VGT (90PS)
1.6 DDiS in 110-120PS state of tune

The rear profile indeed has a lot of resemblance to the Honda City. But the overall stance looks impressive.Team-BHP SCOOP: Maruti Ciaz / YL1. Scoop Pics on Page 99-ciazzzz10547687_598972353555496_3053866516632110701_n.jpg
