I want a 4X4 for something like 18-20L. A full grown up one, ladder on frame with good cruising ability.

Seems, by the time I save up enough $$$ to buy one, the Storme would be priced close to that & I will have to live with a TML product & its niggles.

Circle of life.

Or you might want to wait for this new SUV jointly developed by Tata & LR ;

This is something missing on Indian roads for many years.
A Fortuner/Pagero Sport/Captiva etc - MADE IN INDIA - so priced within 20L onroad.

In an SUV loving country, We either have pricey SUVs or lowcost-low quality makes. I am sure a best-of-both world can be seen if it is done in India, fully.

The Storme, the Aria and the Rexton are nearly there, quality and reliability-wise, though not quite. Of course, if one wants to snigger at the Tata and Mahindra brands...

If you do not regard the Duster/Terrano or the Yeti as proper SUVs then the ideal answer to your demand might be the new Jeep Renegade, which Fiat said last year it would part-manufacture in India, with Fiat engines. Autocar speculated recently that it would be priced at around Rs. 15 L.

But fiat has delayed the launch of Jeep in India. Not before late 2016, then, for the delicious prospect of a high-quality non-hardcore, semi-luxury Jeep at Indian cost and price points?!

Is this same as the Explorer available in the US market? What is Endeavour known as in US?

Nice to see some mature yet modern looking interiors. Funky dashboards are okay on vibrant small cars like the Fiesta, i20 etc. but they just look odd on expensive ones. Something I feel a few companies like Hyundai, ought to learn; the fluidic styling extending to the interiors of their Elantra, Sonata and Santa Fe, just seems a little childish IMHO.

This is not the Explorer, which is available in the US. I am in the US from past 8 months and have not seen anything like this here yet. Of course, looking at the front grill, the new Endeavour is more inline with the design cues on most of the Ford cars here, particularly Taurus:

Looks more balanced and much better than the outgoing model and its precedents. The quirky head lamp of the outgoing model is a definite NO as it does not go with the body shape. This one, when launched, would be the best Endeavour India has seen.

Re: New Ford Everest / Endeavour concept revealed

This looks a whole lot more butch and premium from the current-gen Endeavour. I think its mainly the MT tyres which are adding to the butch feel. A great looking SUV nonetheless!!

However, it wouldn't have these radar based features as these are banned on civilian vehicles, the article says the same thing.

Re: New Ford Everest / Endeavour concept revealed

The new Ford endeavour looks pretty good , looks more like the current Dodge Durnago's. Anyways this will be a good fight for the Fortuner.

Re: New Ford Everest / Endeavour concept revealed

If this is the new Ford Endeavour in the making, then it looks more to be a big version of its sibling Ecosport. IMHO, I find the current look of Endeavour to be more macho than the aesthetics of this one.

If you scroll down to the bottom of the same page -

We doubt these systems would make their way to India. Autonomous braking and crash detection generally make use of a radar control system, and the government of India prohibits civilian vehicles from having radars. Its for the same reason that the new Mercedes S Class sold in India is unavailable with all the safety and assistance systems as its European counterpart (such as the Steering Assist or Magic Body Control).
So the Endeavour might be getting these features, but certainly not the India bound one!
