Re: Case: Out of State Cars vs RTO Bangalore

I was ready to pay 1L for the road tax. 1.5 is just daylight robbery. The freight costs were already factored in so that's not a big deal.
Refund from government authorities is always a painful process. If the tax is 13% then it comes to 1.04L for 8L ex showroom. Is there anything more to it? Leaving this car here would be quite a stupid decision because it'll just rot.

If your next destination after Bangalore is some other location, then fine re register there and get a refund, but if you are returning to Delhi, then note that Delhi dose not re-register cars once registered outside Delhi.

A friend who had a MH-15 (Nashik) registered SX4 had transferred to Bangalore and changed his registration, on returning after a 3 Yr stint, he re registered in Pune, and got the old MH-15 no back and not a fresh MH-12 no, and KA tax refund took about 6 months.

There's a 10% surcharge on LTT as well. So 14% adds up to 15.4% all inclusive.

Re: Case: Out of State Cars vs RTO Bangalore

Guys I'm shifting to Bangalore for good and want to do things by the book. Can you guys help me out on this post:

http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/indian...ml#post3703627

I am moving to Bangalore for good, so taxes have to be paid and I would prefer a KA number plate. IT is just that I have less than no idea about the procedure(s) involved and am not a "local" at either location (though I have relatives in Mysore if that can help)

Kindly help

Re: Case: Out of State Cars vs RTO Bangalore

Yes, I'll be going for studies to Bangalore, so will be returning to DELHI after 3 years. That's leaves out the re registration and refund plan.
What if I get a temporary stay letter from Delhi rto and renew it every year?
Most likely I will be coming to Delhi if not twice, at least once a year and Mumbai more than once.
Is this a feasible option?
I will be going to get this done tomorrow, any agents recommended for the letter in Delhi? Please PM me.

Re: Case: Out of State Cars vs RTO Bangalore

At 0915hrs RTO squad was spotted just before the Electronics City Toll booth (for elevated highway). Yesterday's Mathrubhumi Malayalam daily had a report that RTO squads are back in action. Their current focus is on permit violations (of trucks & buses), with a bit of attention for non-KA registered private vehicles as well . 15 of such vehicles were caught and LTT collected from them.

Had noticed RTO squads on the ORR near the Agar lake on both the sides at around 9 30. The focus was only on yellow board vehicles with more intent on the TT's, water tanker, private buses and LMV being flagged down incessantly.

Re: Case: Out of State Cars vs RTO Bangalore

Drive by RTO continues. 200 vehicles fined (Mathrubhumi:Malayalam)
The RTO squads were very active yesterday. They were detaining non-KA vehicles as well and levying LTT. 30 odd vehicles were detained and LTT was collected. The report looks a bit lenghty, but the reporter has this habit of telling the same thing again and again . Of the Facebook group of non-KA vehicles, the "Roads without boundaries" group etc. etc.

Hopefully the minister will take some logical action in this regard.
How much has this impacted tourists who wish to drive around in their own cars?
I have an official meeting in Bangalore on Friday. Would have loved to drive down from Chennai along with family and enjoy weekend there and return to Chennai. But now due to this fear of vehicle getting impounded, I have booked KSRTC tickets.
All the best.

This has impacted tourism to a great extent. The RTO guys can go to any extent to harass tourists and to make quick bucks which is the sole idea behind this atrocious amendment.

Can you also let us know the points discussed, and the response from the minister? Was there any concrete plan/proposal or was it just a "Thanks.. Let me see what I can do.." stuff.
