If the engine is bigger (3 cyl against 2) it will require more cooling.

The AMT shown in the AutoFair had the old 2 Cyl engine.

Where is the radiator placed in the Nano?

Rear, ahead of the bumper. They must have deemed that insufficient.

We can only speculate, but I doubt a front radiator. Too much of avoidable reengineering.

Check this pic out, part of an old scoop pic. There is definitely something behind this bumper scoop (does not look like light reflection, given the unifomity of the light above, see reflection on bonnet, the thing inside the air-dam is confined to one portion only). There is a heat exchanger for sure. I doubt it will be the radiator, given that it will necessitate a lot of unnecessary coolant travel, but the need for a bigger radiator at the back, might push out the condenser to the front.

Might (or might not) be a condensor.

Yes! Infact I wrote evaporator while I was meaning condenser, corrected

There is something for sure, otherwise the new bumper, the way it is, did not feature in the Europa this way.

Edit, the condenser could also relocated to the front of the car due to the operational hatch.

Awesome move by tata But hope they don't delay too much. And if it's actually a 3 cylinder one, that would be great!

In the present Nano, radiator comes in the rear and the A/C condenser comes in the front.

I hope it comes out soon but more importantly... what is the price going to be? Priced and advertised sensibly, I think it could sell good numbers.

Nice to see the Nano AMT on roads testing so soon after the debut at autoexpo.

Any idea who is going to provide the AMT units for Tata? If its Magneti Marelli, then they better have the volume.

Let's call it NANOmatic There will be lot of takers if Tata is able to offer Nano AMT below the price point of Alto 800.

Magneti Marelli is working hard to localize production of the AMT box. Same has also been confirmed by Maruti Suzuki in a press statement on the Celerio.

Infact, TATAs might actually benefit from all the publicity and hype created by the marketing campaign on AMT done by Maruti.

ha ha !! Tata is at it again. Welcome the Nano-twist-active-AMT. Whats with Tata and their naming convention? Can't they just call it Nano AMT?

Re: PICS: Tata begins testing Nano Twist Active AMT

Trust Tata to copy names from other manufacturers. They had gone overboard renaming the new Indica as Indica Vista (about the same time the Windows Vista was launched). Now this.

Like someone mentioned earlier, if the 3 cyl engine is at the rear and the radiator for it is in the front, where does the boot go?

Seriously, does anybody in Tata still give any consideration whatsoever with these important nuances of the market. I am seriously disappointed.

Tata Nano Twist Active AMT -Wow! Such a big (and funny) name for such a small car? Wonder who is coining these names in these car companies? I hope Tata would'nt mind, if for convenience sake we call it "TNT A2"?

So sometime later if they launch the diesel variant, I bet it's name will be "Tata Nano Twist Active AMT Intercooled TurboDiesel".

On a serious note, if they really want to re-position nano as a more upmarket car, I feel it would be better to do away with the nano name altogether.
The name Nano is linked with cheapness and Tata themselves are responsible for that.Their initial marketing strategy as the "World's cheapest car" did this harm to that name.

I thought that they have woken up from their slumber when they decided to finally give up the "Indica" and "Vista" names on the new bolt hatchback. But I have my doubts now. Tata is always Tata. Much like a government establishment. So hard to bring about radical changes.
